After a few weeks off to enjoy the summer, some Chaos players teamed up with players from the Yellow Jackets and a couple Diablos to participate in the 1st Annual Hockey for the Heart Tournament. The C2 Level Tournament benefits The Rasmussen Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention. The center was was founded to offer a new, unique approach to anticipating and managing heart and artery disease, focusing on screening healthy individuals who may have risk factors (e.g. family history, hypertension, smoking, etc.) More information can be found at Rasmussen Center for Cardiovascular Disease web site.

Chaos D1 teamed up with the Yellow Jackets D1 and a few players from Diablos C2, Zephyrs C2, Royals D1 and Sled Dogs C2 to compete in the C2 Level Tournament hosted at UOM Ridder Arena over the Weekend. Opponents included the C2 Mild, C2 AK Bars, and the C2 Beavers.
In the first game against the Mild, the Chaotic Jackets team saw #2 Adam Ettl and #88 Matt Webb score a goal apiece with an Assist going to #13 Connie Webb. Briefly coming out of retirement, Chaos alumni Goalie Charlie Beattie tended nets and held on for a 3-3 tie against the Mild.  The late game on Saturday night saw the Chaotic Jackets skate to a 5-2 win over the AK Bars with Ettl scoring again.  Mark Butler from the Royals D1 stood strong between the pipes to get the win.
The first game Sunday morning featured a matchup against the 2-0 Beavers, a C2 Playoff team from the recent 2010 AHA Winter Playoffs.  With Beattie back in nets and playing superbly, the Chaotic Jackets were able to play smart Defense and handed the Beavers their first loss of the Tournament with a score of 2-1.  The win qualified the Chaotic Jackets for the Championship game against the Beavers again, who qualified the night before with their 2nd win in as many games.
The Championship Game started ceremoniously with the national anthem with all players on their respective Blue Lines. After several official announcements about the great cause, the Finals were underway. With Mark Butler back between the pipes and a stout defense led by C2 Diablos Chris McNeil and Brett Baumann, the Chaotic Jackets were able to shutout the Beavers 2-0 to claim the Pulte Homes Cup trophy and the Tournament title. The tournament raised over 3,500 dollars for the Rasmussen Center and plans to host a 2nd Annual tournament next Spring as well.  A huge thanks goes out to all involved in this great tournament for this great cause.  The tournament was very well run, the parity was fantastic, the venue was outstanding, and the cause was just.  The Chaotic Jackets team alone contributed over $1200 for the cause.

Eliminated from Division and Tier Title Game Appearance

D1 Champions!
The Chaos D1 Team hustled their way to a Championship victory on Sunday Afternoon at BIG and were crowned D1 Tier Champions in front of a packed crowd.  The Chaos faced off against the Highly talented Pool A Divisional Champions Diablos.  Chaos split with the Diablos during the regular season, including a Diablos 2-0 shutout of Chaos in their last meeting, only one of two losses for Chaos this year. This time around, however, Chaos outpaced the Diablos to earn the 2010 D1 Tier Title.  This year was the first year for Chaos in the D1 Level.  Last year, Chaos claimed the 2009 D2 Title and two years ago, they claimed the 2008 Beginner Title. Chaos finishes the 2009/2010 Winter D1 season with a combined 21-2-2 record for an .880% win pct. and 44 of 50 points possible.  Congrats to the great sportsmen Diablos, who have advanced to the D1 Title game three years in a row going 1-2 in those three games in the last three years.

The game started off fast paced and had Championship speed.  Chaos would score first 5 minutes in by Rob Whiteford assisted by Jay Westerlund.  Diablos forward Craig Gabel tied it up in the first going top shelf.  The teams skated evenly until Connie Leigh, from behind the net, setup Adam Ettl, who looked up quickly to see some net, then buried it in that very spot to make it 2-1 Chaos in the 2nd. Mike StClair would find open net after Byran Nelson's shot deflected off traffic and caught Diablos netminder Todd Latterner out of position to make it 3-1 Chaos. Diablos Jarick Losey would narrow the lead to 3-2 with a C1 level wristshot at the 5 minutes to go mark.  The last 4 minutes where a blur very reminiscent of last year's D2 title game.  Mike Korstad found the box in similar fashion and Rob Whiteford joined him to give the Diablos a 5-3 advantage, which turned into a 6-3 advantage in the last minute of play after the Diablos pulled their netminder.  After a series of great saves by D1 Champion Goalie Dale Melbie and a couple Mini-Ices, the clock finally ticked to 0:00, at which time equipment was strewn across the ice and the victory party was on.  A fantastic year capped in great fashion!  Congrats to all the Playoff teams (Yellow Jackets, LumberJacks, Fighting Piranhas, Diablos, Chaos, Spiders, Ice Gators and Royals).  Chaos D1 and Chaos D2 will take a couple of well deserved weeks off before thinking about hitting the Summer Ice.

Chaos D1 Wins Division Championship Game and Advances to Tier Championship Game!
The Chaos D1 Team fought back and won 2-1 against a really good Royals team with a great goalie and earned not only a Divisional Title, but a shot at the entire D1 Tier Title against the Diablos on Sunday afternoon at BIG #1 at 3:45.  The Royals scored first from #11 Gorder and the comeback was on.  Steve Sattler cleaned up Mike StClair's shot off the crossbar and Jay Westerlund setup Matt Webb with a cross ice pass in which Webb snuck the Game Winner 5 Hole.  Chaos will face their West Rival in the Diablos, who shutout the Lumberjacks 3-0 in the Pool A Division Championship game.  Lots of Championship Hockey going on at BIG tomorrow, come on out to watch some great Hockey and support Chaos in their attempt to Win the D1 Tier.

Chaos D2 misses Championship game by 1 Point in loss to PuckHounds
The Chaos D2 Team narrowly missed playing for the D2 Tier Title game on Sunday due to a close loss to the PuckHounds, who will represent D2 Alongside the IceDogs for the D2 Title on Sunday afternoon at 12:15PM at BIG.
UPDATE: PuckHounds Take D2 Title, 3-2 from the IceDogs

Chaos gathers 3 of 4 Points in Second games, D1 Clinches Advancement to Division Title Game Saturday Night, D2 controls their own Destiny.
The Chaos D1 Team, with a victory over the Ice Gators, has secured a Spot in the Division Championship Game on Saturday Night 9:30 at BIG and with it, a shot at Playing on Sunday for the D1 Tier Title.  Chaos is now 2-0 with 4 points in Round Robin play and is guaranteed at least 2nd place in Pool B, good enough for a shot at the Division Title Saturday night.  Their opponent has yet to be determined, but will be either the Spiders (0-1-1, 1 pts) or the Royals (1-0-1, 3 pts).  The Ice Gators (0-2-0, 0 pts) will be playing only the potential spoiler in their last game against the Spiders.  The Spiders need a victory on Saturday against the Gators, a Royals Loss to Chaos and need to make up a -3 goal differential to the Royals in order to advance to the Division Title game alongside Chaos, otherwise, it will be Chaos and Royals Saturday night.  Chaos hopes to regain the services of Center Mike StClair on Saturday as Mike has been recovering from a Severe Wrist sprain suffered two weeks ago.

Chaos D2 tied the IceDogs in their 2nd game of Round Robin play to leave them in control of their own destiny to be one of two teams to advance to the D2 Tier Championship game on Sunday.  The Saturday game against #1 Seed Puck Hounds is a must win game to get them to 5 points and they might need to make up a 1 goal differential to the IceDogs should the IceDogs beat the Ice Sages on Saturday.  Scores are still coming into Chaos playoff central as the Northern Horde, also in control of their own destiny, played the Ice Sages tonight and face the Nighthawks on Saturday.
*UPDATE 04/09*
Northern Horde lose to Ice Sages putting Chaos and IceDogs on top of standings with 3 pts each going into the last game.  All teams have a shot at the title game except the Nighthawks, who can play spoiler!

Here is the Saturday Schedule with loads of implications, come out Saturday as Chaos D2 shoots for the Title Game!

Chaos goes 2 for 2 on Opening Night of Round Robin Play for the Playoffs

The #6 Seed Chaos D2 team upset the #2 Seed Ice Sages on Tuesday Night while the #1 Seed Chaos D1 team fended off the #4 Spiders to go 2 for 2 on Opening night of Round Robin play for the playoffs.  Chaos D1 now sits in first in Pool B and Chaos D2 in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd once the PIM are reported by the AHA.  The Pool tiebreakers are an AHA engineering marvel that few completely understand.

  • Tiebreakers for pool standings:

    • 1) Most points

    • 2) Wins

    • 3) Head-to-head

    • 4) Goal differential (6 goals max per game)

    • 5) Fewest goals against

    • 6) Fewest minor penalties

    • 7) Fewest total penalty minutes

    • 8) Earliest goal scored

    • 9) Coin toss

    • Note: If three teams are tied, once a team is determined as the higher seed, the tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the criteria between two remaining teams if necessary.

Playoff Week Begins, Chaos D2 and Chaos D1 represent. Chaos Playoff Central Launches

Chaos Playoff Central has been launched to continuously update the Chaos nation of the scores and schedules during the upcoming AHA Playoff Week.  Both Chaos D2 and Chaos D1 will represent the Chaos Nation this week at the 2010 AHA Winter Playoffs.  Chaos D2 enters the playoffs as the #6 Seed and will face the #1 PuckHounds, #2 IceSages and #3 IceDogs.  Don't let that fool you as Chaos battled these teams very tightly throughout the regular season and everyone feels the D2 team is peaking at the right time.  Chaos D1 enters Pool B as the #1 Seed and will face the nemesis #4 Spiders, who Chaos scrapped by with two wins against during the regular season.  Then, Chaos will face two unknown teams from the far East, the #2 Royals and #3 Ice Gators.  Come back to Chaos Playoff Central often to receive the latest updates during the Chaos push to repeat as AHA Champions, now in two Divisions.

It's Official, Chaos claims Regular Season D1 West Title and a #1 Seed for Playoffs!

A Chaos D1 win against the Maroons D1 and a Fighting Piranhas loss in OT to the Diablos on Monday night has clinched the Regular Season D1 West Title and a #1 Pool B Seed entering the D1 playoffs.  The win gives Chaos 34 points, which the Piranhas can match with their last two games, however, the first tiebreaker belongs to Chaos with their 17 wins opposed to the Piranhas 16 possible wins.  The win by the Diablos clinches them a spot in the show and delegates the Fighting Piranhas to a #2 Seed in Pool A.  With only one spot left in D1 West available, 4 teams are vying to steal the 4th spot from the current holder in the Fighting Ice Fish.  The Spiders now sit in the best spot to steal the last spot and they should have their opportunity as it appears the two teams are headed towards a playoff deciding contest on Thursday, April 1st where the Spiders meet the Fighting Ice Fish in the last game of the season for both squads.  A big Congrats to the Diablos, who have made the D1 playoffs for 3 straight years.  Big congrats also go out to the Chaos D1 squad, who have taken the Regular Season title in their first year at the Level.  Chaos won the Beginner School Title in 2008, the D2 title in 2009, and are now set to do battle during the 2010 D1 playoff party.  The #1 Seed now finalizes the Round Robin playoff schedule for Chaos in Pool B.

Chaos D1 squeezes past Maroons D1, rumblings of #1 Seed?

Chaos D1 skated evenly with the Maroons on Monday night at Braemar in a fierce battle that justified a 1-0 outcome.  After two stalemate periods, #16 Rob Whiteford went top shelf blocker side assisted by Team assist Leader #13 Connie Leigh.  The goal is Rob's 6th in his last three games, an indication that the most life experienced member of the Chaos squad is just starting to find his legs.  The win did not come without a potential expensive cost.  Center #5 Mike StClair left the game in the 2nd with an upper body injury (contusion to the wrist).  Mike was sent off for XRAY's and results are pending.  We hope for the best in just a bump and a bruise for StClair, who missed time last year with a broken wrist and time this year with a broken ankle.  #42 Goalie Dale Melbie records his second shutout on the year with a 20 save performance lowering his Goals against average to a season low 1.84 and raising his Save Pct to .910%.  The Maroons nearly converted several chances and sub goalie Paul Fee (Lumberjacks) had a great game saving 25 of 26 shots.  The loss hurts the Maroons playoff chances, but they still have a shot by beating the Spiders, Lakers, and Nighthawks while needing help from the Fighting Ice Fish.  Rumors have it that the Diablos have beaten the Fighting Piranhas in OT down in Richfield, so Chaos management is calculating the playoff picture.

Chaos D1 uncorks more offense in 11-1 win over Knights

Chaos D1 skated by the Knights on Sunday night in the first game of back to back games to the tune of 11-1.  The Knights, coming off losses to the Wingmen 16-0 and the Fighting Ice Fish 13-0, have been decimated by key injuries, yet provided great fight during the game.  Chaos goals came from #16 Rob Whiteford (3, First Career Hat Trick and 6th in Chaos History), Ettl (2), StClair, Sutton, Westerlund, Hanson, Skjold, and Buschmann.  The lone Knights goal came from a determined #9 Wes Colburn on a great effort.  Chaos skates tonight against the Maroons, who are currently in the best position to steal the 4th playoff spot from either the Diablos or Fighting Ice Fish.  Chaos continues to push to try to lockup the #1 seed and needs a win against the Maroons to do so.  Puck drops at 8:15PM at Braemar.

Chaos D2 loses close one to IceDogs, Guarantees #6 Seed

The D2 Chaos team, in an attempt to improve their standing, lost a close matchup on Sunday night against the IceDogs.  The loss ensures the #6 Seed for Chaos, who will next face the Fighting Loons on Sunday at Richfield at 7:45PM in a game that will have no possible impact in the standings, rather will be a final tune-up heading into the playoffs.  The D2 Team is further tuning their game in a scrimmage against the D1 West Leading Chaos D1 Team on Thursday and has guaranteed a Victory over their big brothers despite the difference in Tiers and the fact that Chaos D1 leads that Tier.  The D1 team has responded by accepting the Challenge and will bring their A-Game.  With only 1 game to go, the D2 Tier is less cloudy.  Congrats to the Puck Hounds, who, with their 6-1 win over the Nighthawks, have secured the #1 Seed and have Won the Regular Season D2 Tier.  Seeds #2-#5 are still up for grabs and will be determined this weekend.  With Chaos being the #6 Seed, their Playoff scheduling is set.

Update on #6 Chaos vs #3 Nighthawks Game

Details from the Chaos vs Nighthawks game are flowing into Chaos Headquarters. It appears that #30 Goalie Chris Guarneri stood on his head at times and saved 33 of 34 shots for an impressive .971% save pct for the game!  Chris was not content with only stopping the shots as he also helped setup a third period goal in which he was accredited his first Assist on a play in which #88 Josh Popp finished on. Numerous complaints flowing into League administrators attempting to ban Chris from participating in offensive plays citing that Chris skates out with the C1 Bulldogs were quickly squashed after rebuttals that Left Handed Goalie sticks are quite a bit different than Right Handed skater sticks. The complaints have invigorated Chris to the point where he has stated he desires to not only increase his offensive assists, but plans on scoring his first goal as well in the next game vs the IceDogs. Back on the skater side, Popp finished the game with 2 goals and added an assist while #87 Peter Kumasaka also tallied two goals.  #29 Brad Krusemark, #8 Matt Swanson and #7 Rich Benson also scored for Chaos.

Chaos D2 Thumps #3 Nighthawks 7-1!

The D2 Chaos team, in an attempt to improve their standing, thumped the #3 Nighthawks on Monday night 7-1.  Details about the win are still flowing in to Chaos headquarters, but the victory sets up a show down this weekend vs the #5 IceDogs in which Chaos can switch spots with them into the #5 Spot with a victory.  The IceDogs lost to the Fighting Loons over the weekend 3-1.  With both the #3 Nighthawks and #5 IceDogs losing and only two games remaining for each D2 team, Chaos has a very outside shot to take as high as the #3 seed, but a more reasonable opportunity to steal the #4 Seed from the IceDogs and Nighthawks.  The current #4 IceSages look primed to steal the #3 spot, if not higher, with remaining games against the Diablos and Blade Runners.  The #3 Nighthawks and #5 IceDogs have some difficult match-ups looming with the Nighthawks facing the #1 Puck Hounds/#2 Northern Horde and IceDogs facing #6 Chaos/#2 Puck Hounds in the last two games of play.  A lot of movement in the standings is possible to ensure the highest seed come playoff time.  A high seed this year is crucial as 6 teams make the show with the higher seeds getting favorable schedules during Round Robin play.  The #5 IceDogs vs #6 Chaos matchup this weekend is on Sunday at Richfield at 9:00PM.

Chaos D1 uncorks the offense and Thumps Sled Dogs 10-1!

The D1 Sled Dogs, with recent quality wins over the Diablos, Fighting Ice Fish and Wingmen have been playing great hockey.  Chaos, and it's recent offensive woes, have not been with recent shutout losses to the Diablos, Fighting Ice Fish, and barely scraping by the Wingmen.  On Sunday afternoon, all that changed.  The team got together for a recent practice, discussed and developed a new offensive secret strategy.  The secret weapon, dubbed the 1260 Double McTwist Tomahawk was uncorked on the Sled Dogs on Sunday afternoon at Highland Park to the tune of 10 goals and 59 shots.  #2 Adam Ettl gets the first star with his first Hat Trick (6th ever in a Chaos history), 1 assist and a Plus/Minus of +5.  #13 Connie Leigh chipped in 4 assists and all lines showcased the new secret weapon while the Line of Skjold/Westerlund/Whiteford pulling off the new move regularly for a high score of 48.4. #16 Rob Whiteford went for 2 goals and 2 assists while #88 Matt Webb and #77 Mike Korstad went for a goal and two assists each.  Mike's goal was an ugly one in which the defense high sticked his sky shot into their own net and shouldn't be mentioned here.  #26 Jay Westerlund and #24 Derek Sutton both scored while Sutton and #10 Ben Skjold getting an assist to cap the 22 point summary.  The Chaos defense allowed a stingy 1 goal and 13 shots on net.  The one goal came from a freak deflection and bounce from a shot from outside the zone.  Once considered Thugs by some AHA teams, Chaos has committed only 3 penalties in the last three games with none coming against the Sled Dogs and is chasing only two teams in D1 West for the least amount of PIM. The win places Chaos D1 back on top after after the Fighting Piranhas spent a night in first place after a 5-0 win over the Lakers on Saturday night.  The D1 Playoff picture remains cloudy with #3 Diablos and #4 Fighting Piranhas both losing over this weekend.  The only clarity comes in the form of Chaos and Piranhas both securing either the #1 or #2 seed come playoff time.  Chaos next Pulls a double header on Sunday against the last place Knights and then again on Monday night against the surging Maroons, who are in the best position to steal a playoff spot from either the Diablos or Fighting Ice Fish.

Chaos D2 Clinches Final Playoff Spot with 4-1 win over Polar Bears!

Chaos D2 joins Chaos D1 in the Post Regular Season Playoff Party.

The D2 team secured the 6th and final remaining playoff spot on Wednesday night with a convincing win over the Polar Bears.  Technically, the Wildcats team can catch Chaos at 21 points, however, Chaos owns the first eligible tiebreaker, a Head to Head victory over the Wildcats back on Jan 16th.  The clinch finalizes the D2 Playoff teams with only seeding remaining a question to be decided in the upcoming weeks.  Chaos started strong with a five hole goal from #23 Bob Butwinick assisted by #88 Josh Popp.  #8 Matt Swanson would make it 2-0 before the Polar Bears closed the gap to 2-1 in the second. A third Chaos goal was waived off as officials determined #29 Brad Krusemark "kicked" a puck in the net.  Chaos added two more legit goals in the third again via #23 Butwinick and #8 Swanson.  It was Bob's 12th and 13th of the season and Matt's 10th and 11th to lead the team in goal scoring respectively.  Our third star goes to Pete Morrow, the Director of the AHA, but on this night, just the winning sub goalie for Chaos, who allowed only 1 goal against the talented Polar Bears.  The win ensures representation at the 2010 Winter AHA Playoffs at both the D2 and D1 tiers as Chaos D1 clinched a playoff spot on Sunday night as well. Chaos D2 next battles the 2nd place Nighthawks on Monday night at 9:00PM at Augsburg in an attempt to better their current 6th place seeding.

Chaos D1 back on track and secures 1st D1 playoff spot with 2-1 win over Wingmen

After two losses in a row to the hands of the Piranhas and Diablos, Chaos D1 got back in the W column with a nice effort against the always dangerous Wingmen.  The win secures the first D1 playoff spot.  The Chaos win also puts the Fighting Piranhas into the show ensuring the Wingmen cannot catch them.  The Rob Little led Wingmen always match up well against Chaos and this was no exception.  After a hard fought first period, the score remained notched at 0-0.  Then in the second, the Wingmen scored the first goal to make it 1-0....but wait!  The refs converged and the goal was eventually waived off due to a high stick call that was later reviewed to be a hand bat by the Wingman into the net.  Either way, the refs got this one right, kudos, back to 0-0.  Then after 7 periods of scoreless Chaos periods (two shutouts in a row), Chaos finally found the back of the net.  #88 Matt Webb, moving up to forward for this game, took a beautiful pass from #77 Jay Westerlund and deked the goalie backhand to make it 1-0 Chaos.  #5 Mike StClair also assisted on the play.  The Wingmen would tie it up late in the second on a bad bounce to the Wingman in the slot where he beat Chaos Melbie glove side.  A determined Melbie quickly bounced back to deny the Wingmen the rest of the way saving 21 of 22 posting an impressive .955% save pct for the game.  At 1-1, Chaos chanted lets put the "Biscuit in the Basket" and #5 Joe Keebler answered the call by netting a screened wrister past the Wingman goalie Shaemus Maloney to make it 2-1 Chaos at the 5 minutes to remain mark.  The Wingmen spent much of the rest of the time in the Penalty box as Wingmen committed 8 penalties to Chaos 1.  Chaos host the Sled Doggies this Weekend in an early game at cold Shultz Highland Arena on the South Rink at 3:40PM.

Chaos D2 wins two straight, in line for a playoff spot.

Wins over the Diablos and Blade Runners puts Chaos D2 6 points ahead in playoff race.

The D2 team took to the ice on Thursday night against the Blade Runners and needed further cushioning for the last available playoff spot.  Chaos started quickly scoring on their first shot only 9 seconds in on the game when #88 Josh Popp netted his 4th on the season assisted by #8 Matt Swanson.  Popp wasn't done and quickly answered a Runner goal to go up 2-1 only 4 minutes later this time assisted by #77 Tom Scholl.  The runners would tie matters up to conclude the first period all squared away at 2-2.  Chaos would open up the offense in the second with three unanswered goals by #8 Swanson (assisted #87 Peter Kumasaka), #23 Bob Butwinick (assisted #77 Sholl) and #87 Kumasaka (assisted #23 Kumasaka) to end the period 5-2 Chaos.  Kumasaka and Butwinick (assisted #5 Don Donaldson) were not done and added one more goal each in the third.  A determined Schubbe from the runners scored the runners only goals with a natural hat trick to keep the runners in it a bit, but the final score would settle at 7-3.  #30 Goalie Guarneri again held his line well stopping 21 of 24 getting the win despite the shot advantage of 24 shots against vs. 23 shots taken for Chaos. The back to back wins put Chaos 6 points (3 games) in front of the 7th place Wildcats.  A Wildcat loss or Chaos win next game will all but secure a playoff spot for the Chaos.  Shouldn't speak so soon though as Chaos enters a difficult part of their schedule against difficult matchups against the Polar Bears, IceDogs and Nighthawks.  The D2 playoff picture is shaping up quickly with 5 of the 6 spots already secured by the Nighthawks, Horde, Puck Hounds, Ice Dogs, and Ice Sages.  Only the Blade Runners and Diablos have been eliminated from the hunt for the last spot.

The DEVIL HUNT is Back on!

The moon, stars, and planets have once again converged on the AHA this week to give us the Bi-Seasonal occurrence more commonly known as the "Devil Hunt". This is where the Chaos franchise gets to chase down ugly red devil looking creatures called Diablos and attempt to squash them.  The Spanish word "Diablo" translates to Devil, which is defined as "The Supreme Spirit of Evil or Satan himself"  It is the duty of the Chaos franchise to rid the AHA of this infesting evil in the AHA. This obligation starts with D2 Team who hosts the creatures on Saturday at St Louis Park West Arena at 7:45PM.  The Chaos D1 team will attempt to complete the hunt also on Saturday, but at Highland Arena South at 10:00PM.  The Chaos franchise swept the Diablos back on Nov 21st and 22nd with the D1 Team winning 5-3 and the D2 Team winning 11-3.  Many analysts feel that the sweep only provoked the creatures to awaken from their slumber and to seek revenge this weekend for their losses.  Both Chaos squads know the feeling, each coming off losses for the first time this season as the D1 Squad lost to the Piranhas 4-0 and the D2 squad lost to the Ice Sages 3-2 last weekend.  So, let's give them Hell and get out those crosses, pitchforks and spears one more time and let's have a good hunt.

Fighting Piranhas deliver first Loss to Chaos D1 in a drubbing

Finally, No more talk about being undefeated.  The talented and  steadfast Fighting Piranhas played 3 complete periods of hockey and rightfully smoked the Chaos D1 squad on Sunday night at the Coliseum in a 4-0 shutout.  The Fish outskated, outhustled, and outplayed the Chaos D1 boys (and 1 girl) to move into a two way tie for first place in the D1 West.  Shots on goal were 27 for the South American Freshwater Toothed Fishies against 24 for Chaos.  Chaos could not really gel on the night and found problems creating significant scoring opportunities, and when they could, they were shut down by Sub Goalie Paul Fee, filling in for an injured Osum.  Next up are the surging Diablos on Saturday at Highland Park on the South Rink at 10:00PM.  Chaos and Fighting Piranhas can clinch Playoff spots with wins.

Chaos wins both over Weekend. D2 cushions Playoff Standing, D1 goes to 13-0.

D2 Chaos skates past Maroons 5-1 and extends playoff cushion to 1.5 games over Polar Bears.

The D2 team took to the ice against the 4-8 Maroons D2 in a must win game to retain their spot in the D2 Tier Standings and came away with a 5-1 win.  Chaos would jump out of the gate quickly with three goals in the first period to take a 3-0 lead. #87 Peter Kumasaka (assisted by #23 Butwinick) would get his first goal of the year to match his 6 assists to start the scoring. #23 Butwinick, assisted by his professional and hockey partner #5 Don Donaldson, would score his 9th of the season. Donnie would later be quoted as saying "It's enough that I assist you in the office, do I really have to set you up on the ice as well?"  #88 Josh Popp, assisted by #77 Sholl, would wrap up the first period scoring.  In the third, #8 Matt Swanson, assisted by Kumasaka, and #15 Matt Clark, assisted by #19 Andrew Mushett each scored to make it 5 goals for Chaos.  The Maroons would deny the goose egg late in the third, but made up for it in physical play as they lead the PIM category with 8 penalties (2 to #26 Tim Baird and 2 to #9 Kurkoski) vs 3 called against Chaos. #30 Chris Guarneri continues his hot play between the pipes saving 14 of 15 raising his save pct to .898 and lowering his GAA to 2.08.  A loss by the Polar Bears 3-5 against the Wildcats now gives Chaos a 1.5 game cushion in the 6th and final playoff spot.  Chaos faces a surging Ice Sages team who have won their last 5 games, including wins against division leading opponents in the IceDogs and Nighthawks.  Puck drops at 8:45PM on Sunday on the Olympic Ice at Bloomington Ice Gardens.

D1 Chaos shoots often, scores little to comeback to win 2-1 against the Lakers.  Piranhas Loom!

The Chaos D1 faced a talented Lakers squad lead by their goalie #33 Graeber.  The game was clean and featured good, technical hockey by both teams as Chaos did not record a penalty while the Lakers only recorded 2.  Chaos was scored on first for the first time this season and found themselves quickly in the hole 0-1.  Just before the end of the second, #10 Ben Skjold would tap in a rebound to tie matters up.  It took 25 shots for Chaos to score their first against Graeber in a game where Chaos took 39 shots against 19 given up.  Despite many chances and more saves by Graeber, Chaos would not convert until mid way through the third when #5 Mike StClair hammered home a rebound from the shot of #19 Bryan Nelson to take the lead 2-1.  Chaos would play their stout defense along with great play from #42 Goalie Dale Melbie to ensure the score remained the same.  Melbie saved 18 of 19 shots and improves his save pct to .904, lowers his GAA to 2.00 and improves to 13-0.  The perfect record is sure to be tested against the 12-1 2nd Place Fighting Piranhas, who are biting at the bit to avenge their only loss to Chaos back on Nov 15th.  Puck drops at 9:30 at the Coliseum on Sunday in what appears to be a marquee match-up of the top two teams in the West.

Chaos D1 only Undefeated team in AHA as difficult stretch approaches

No one in the D1 or D2 levels have heard of the Battle Cats in the AHA C1 North Division.  Why would we have?  Well, until this last weekend, the Battle Cats in the C1 North were the only other team besides Chaos D1 with a perfect record in the AHA, which spans 111 teams in 13 divisions.  Thanks to the Barons defeat of the BattleCats this weekend, they have left a giant target on the backs of the Chaos D1 boys and at 12-0, all teams will be gearing up to tarnish the unblemished record.  Chaos D1 enters the meat of it's difficult stretch of scheduling starting with the Lakers this Sunday night at Breck at 9:30.  Chaos then faces the 11-1-0 Fighting Piranhas on the 21st at the Coliseum.  The Piranhas are 8-0 since facing Chaos on Nov 15th and have scored 47 goals in those last 8 games vs only 9 goals allowed. Chaos finishes up the difficult stretch with meetings against the Diablos and Wingmen.

Chaos gathers 3 of 4 points over Weekend. D2 Ties Top Team, D1 gets Shutout

D2 Chaos takes Top D2 Team to overtime and gets 1 point in the standings.

The D2 team met the Top D2 team in the league, the Northern Horde on Saturday at West Side Arena.  The Horde came out of the Beginner school last year and have been tearing up the D2 tier with a 8-1-2 record to place them atop the D2 Tier.  Despite their lofty standings, Chaos showed they can hang with any team in the division by taking the Horde to a 0-0 tie into overtime and gathering a valuable 1 point to take sole possesion for the 6th and final playoff spot.  The Horde would eventually get an OT goal to get an extra point in the 3 point affair.  Details are still flowing into Chaos headquarters, but Chaos Captain Aaron Swann was very pleased with the Great Game Chaos played to come away with the point from arguably the Leagues top team.  Chaos and the Horde also skated to a tie back on October 25th, 2-2.  Next up for Chaos are the Maroons on Saturday, Feb 13th at Richfield Ice Arena at 10:00PM.  Chaos skated to a 3-1 win in their previous meeting back on November 7th.

D1 Chaos Shuts Out Nighthawks 3-0

The Chaos D1 team improved to 12-0 and remained on top of the D1 West Division with a shutout effort against the Nighthawks 3-0. Playing better than they have in the last couple weeks, Chaos played a smart, safe, and clean game of hockey Sunday night against a team they have had problems with in the past.  The Nighthawks, led by the great netminding of Jen Colling, gave Chaos fits back on November 1st in a game Chaos escaped with a win 2-1.  This game would prove no different as Chaos had to pour it on the Nighthawks in order to score only one goal each period.  The first period started with #24 Derek Sutton assisted by #2 Adam Ettl and # Chase Hansson.  Sutton would tap in his second goal of the game in the 2nd period assisted by Ettl's 2nd assist and #13 Connie Leigh. In the third, "Smiling" Steve Sattler properly celebrated his Birthday by netting his 7th goal of the season.  #92 Chase Hansson from Cweden almost made it 4 as Jen Colling saved a Penalty Shot attempt after Chase was dragged down from behind on a breakaway.  The Chaos squad, deemed Thugs last week by a league leading PIM Spiders squad, committed only 1 questionable penalty despite having many opportunities to respond to 6 penalties and physical play throughout the game.  #42 Dale Melbie records his first Career Chaos Shutout by saving 19 of 19 shots.  Dale recorded 3 shutouts last year with the Royals and 1 shutout over the summer with the Fighting Ice Lice.  Chaos improves to 12-0 and next battles the Lakers on Sunday, February 14th at 9:30 at Breck in what should be a tender and heart felt affair on Valentines Day.

Chaos Splits Weekend, D2 comes up short, D1 escapes with a win.

D1 Chaos goes to 11-0 with comeback effort over Spiders

The Chaos D1 team improved to 11-0 and remained on top of the D1 West Division with a come from behind effort against the talented and physical Spiders.  The game was marred by 14 penalties, some of which were flagrant by both sides. The Spiders, who won last week 6-1 against the 3rd place Fighting Ice Fish, painted a big Bullseye on Chaos for the 2nd meeting this season at Eden Prairie on Sunday night.  Chaos began the scoring with a goal from #4 Mike Olson on a shot from the point assisted by fellow defenseman #15 Joe Keebler.  The momentum would quickly turn toward the Spiders as the Spiders would score the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead late in the 2nd period.  Chaos committed 5 penalties in the 2nd period and had to kill two 5-3 advantages.  #77 Korstad checked a Spider into the boards causing the Spider to throw a couple punches in retaliation.  #30 Pettengill from the Spiders went to the box for a flagrant Slash and #88 Webb boarded #27 Heitzman from the Spiders into the Crossbar, which should have resulted in more than just the 2 minutes assessed.  Despite the physical play, #11 Cory Buschmann would settle down the team and got Chaos back in the game with two late period goals both assisted by #19 Byran Nelson and #8 Jeff Schultz.  Despite chances in the 3rd period, neither team could break the 3-3 tie.  The two teams were headed toward overtime until #2 Adam Ettl, setup by #13 Connie Leigh, would bury the game winning goal with only 2 minutes left in the game.  General consensus is that Chaos was fortunate to walk away with two points in a pretty ugly game. The ugliness may have been highlighted by #5 Mike StClair being forced to rent a pair of public hockey rentals from the rink after realizing Hockey Giant completely botched a sharpening that rendered his skates useless.  With a  record of 11-0, the rest of the league is targeting and coming to play their best game against Chaos. The Nighthawks, who have been playing well lately, are next up on Monday, Feb 1st at Augsburg B at 9:30PM. Bean counters at Chaos Hockey have calculated a Magic Number of 4 to make the playoffs, which could be either Chaos wins and/or losses by the Lakers, Maroons and Wingmen.

D2 Team comes up short against the Puck Hounds 3-1.

The D2 team came up short against the Puck Hounds on Saturday night 3-1. Despite Chaos being short benched, they were able to maintain a 1-1 tie going into the 3rd.  In the 3rd, the Hounds took advantage of the short bench by netting two goals to determine the final score 3-1.  Chaos has now played all 11 D2 opponents and sits at 5-4-2 with 12 points in the 6th and final playoff spot.  They begin replaying their first half schedule with a reunion with the League Leading Northern Horde on Sunday, 4:30PM at familiar West Side Arena. Chaos and the Horde skated to a 2-2 tie in the first game of the season back on October 25th.

Chaos D2 wins three straight with 6-0 win over Wildcats

D2 Chaos Shuts Out the Wildcats to Win 3rd in a Row

In their only meeting of the 2009/2010 season, Chaos came out firing on all cylinders against their old rivals and friends, the Wildcats. The matchup was much anticipated against the Wildcats. Chaos and the Wildcats have a great long standing relationship as we have shared practice ice, summer roster teams including last Summer's champs, the Walking sticks, and fierce rivalries including last years winter regular season and playoff games.  #8 Swanson got the scoring started early burying an assist from #87 Kumaska at 12:33. 11 seconds later, #77 Sholl scored an unassisted goal and the Chaos were off and running. #23 Butwinick would score two in the second and one in the third (with assists from #88 Popp and Swanson) and #26 Krusemark would score on the power play in third (assist from #13 Kinneman) to complete the scoring. The Chaos defense held the Wildcats to only 11 shots and kept the puck out of the zone for most of the game. #30 Guarneri notched his second shutout in three games as the fight for playoff position starts to take shape. Over the last 3 games, Chaos has allowed 2 goals while scoring 19.  With the win, D2 Chaos temporarily moves into 5th place with a key match up against the 4th place Puckhounds slated for Saturday, Jan 23rd, 10:15PM at New Hope Ice Arena in a battle for the last playoff spot.  Will Chaos D2 make a run for a playoff spot? Weigh in and see what others think in the New Chaos Polls HERE!

Halfway Done, 10-0!

D1 Chaos has now faced all 10 D1 West Opponents and improves to 10-0 with a 5-2 victory over the Fighting Ice Fish.

Halfway through the 20 game regular season schedule and after playing all the opponents in the D1 West Division, Chaos finds themselves in unfamiliar territory with an unblemished 10-0-0 record.  The latest challenge came from the #2 Fighting Ice Fish (7-1-0) on Saturday Night on the Big Rink at Augsburg College.  The Fish boast a couple of the best skaters in the Division, but Chaos came to play on this night.  Chaos jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead taking advantage of a 2 week break the Fish were on.  #13 Connie Leigh started the scoring by banging home a rebound from #77 Chase Hansson.  #12 Steve Sattler scored unassisted just before #16 Rob Whiteford hooked up from #19 Bryan Nelson.  All three scores came in the first three minutes of the period.  The Fish would slumber no more however, and answered back with 2 quick goals to make it 3-2.  Momentum turned to the Fish as Chaos had to kill a 5-3 advantage for almost an entire 2 minutes as #5 Mike StClair was called on his first Roughing call ever and #15 Joe Keebler hooked someone with his 9 foot stick.  Determined, Chaos not only killed the penalties, but #16 Rob Whiteford, jumping in for an exiting Keebler from the penalty box, found himself on a breakaway to net his second goal of the night to put Chaos up 4-2 to end the first.  Rob was assisted by a great heads up play by #77 Chase Hanson and #19 Nelson.  The next two periods seemed to be all Chaos as they controlled the puck and the flow of the game.  Playing dump and chase and stout defense, Chaos neutralized most of the Fishies rushes and tactfully ate away the clock.  #77 Mike Korstad connected on one of his slappers mid way through the 3rd to make it 5-2 Chaos to determine the final score.  #42 Dale Melbie saved 18 of 20 for a .900 save pct and has been in net for all 10 games to become the first 10 game winner in the AHA.  Chaos has a two week break before beginning the second half of the season with a reunion with Last Year's D1 Champs, the Spiders on Sunday, January 24th at 7:30PM at Eden Prairie #2. Chaos began the season by defeating the Spiders back on October 24th by a score of 4-1.

Chaos D2 Overpowers Fighting Loons 9-2!

D2 gets 2 valuable points in offensive performance

D2 Chaos vs Fighting Loons was advertised as a critical and close match-up for the two teams. Chaos stormed out of the gate and played one of their better games this season with great passing, lots of net traffic, stout D, and great play execution.  Chaos dominated most of the action while putting in 3 goals each period against the talented Loons netminder Jon Scholten.  Leading the offense was #81 Adam Coolong with his second straight Hat Trick and now has two Hat Tricks in two games played. #8 Matt Swanson added two goals and an assist while #23 Bob Butwinick, #17 Jason Przybilla (first of season), #15 Matt Clark, and #19 Andrew Mushett all scored for Chaos, who now have 13 goals against only two scored against in their last two games.  Mushett also chipped in with 2 assists and #88 Josh Popp setup three plays for scores for 3 assists. #30 Chris Guarneri saved 18 of 20 for a .900 save pct in a game that saw Chaos double up the Loons in shots 40-20.  Chaos was happy to see subs Coolong and #22 Doug Winjum get into the game and welcomed back #5 Don Donaldson after a breif visit to the IR due to an injured MCL in his knee.  The Loons coach became irate at Donaldson after an alleged check of his spouse in an incident the refs claim went unobserved. The two points now puts Chaos in 5th place, only two points back of the Puck Hounds for the line drawing 4th playoff spot.  Chaos next visits the Wildcats on Saturday, Jan 16th at West Side Arena at 9:30.  The Wildcats remain our nemesis and our close friends and should prove to be an exciting game. Both teams are seeking valuable points to climb the ladder in the D2 Division standings.

D1 set for Big Weekend.

The D1 West Division is set for a Big Weekend as #1 Chaos battles #2T Fighting Ice Fish while #2T Fighting Piranhas visit the #4 Wingmen.  The outcome could see some jockeying of the top spots in the D1 West Division.  Come out and see some good hockey Saturday at 9:30PM at the Big Rink at Augsburg as Chaos battles the rival #2 Fighting Ice Fishies.

9-0!

D1 Chaos improves to 9-0 with a 7-2 victory over the Knights, but Fighting Ice Fish match-up looms this weekend.

Chaos D1 skated past last year's rival and D2 Division runner-up Knights 7-2 at New Hope Arena on Saturday night. The last time Chaos faced the Knights ended in an exhilarating 3-2 D2 Division title victory for Chaos, so emotions were high for the start of the game. Chaos came out strong and finally got on the board late in the first with a low wrister from #15 Blue Liner Joe Keebler for his first goal on the season. Fellow Defenseman #88 Matt Webb scored on a slapper from the Blue Line as Chaos swarmed in front on the net creating all kinds of traffic for the Knights Netminder Dykstra. Webb was credited for the next goal early in the 2nd with a weak wrister from the Blue line, but later reviews show #2 Adam Ettl possibly getting a peice of the puck in front of the net. #77 Mike Korstad would finally get his first goal of the season (to go along with his league leading 8 Assists) to put Chaos up 4-0. #11 Cory Buschmann scored his sixth of the season to go up 5-0. #2 Adam Ettl then scored his 7th of the season on a one timer on a beuatifully setup play by #13 Connie Leigh and D2 Chaos Captain #14 Aaron Swann. #16 Rob Whiteford scored the 7th Chaos goal while the Crafty and well skating #8 Keith Jensen of the Knights got behind the Chaos defense twice on two breakaways to seal the outcome 7-2. Chaos shots on goal were 44 compared to 12 for the Knights. The #2 7-1 Fighting Ice Fish loom this weekend in a #1 vs #2 critical matchup on Saturday, 9:30PM on the Big Rink at Augsburg College.

Chaos D2 Shuts out First Place and Undefeated Dogs!

D2 Chaos Stuns Ice Dogs in huge upset victory

After a blowout loss the previous week to the D2 Nighthawks, Chaos returned to the ice determined to re-establish their game against the first place and Undefeated Icedogs. #77 Sholl got the scoring going early with his 3rd of the season with an assist from #88 Popp and #9 Smith. #26 Krusemark scored at 10:50 in the 2nd (assisted by #19 Mushett), followed by #7 Benson at 4:36 (assisted by #44 Booth and #23 Butwinick). Smith closed out the scoring, burying a goal from #87 Kumasaka on a two man rush. The 3rd period resulted in additional scoring chances, but no more goals from either team. Team did a great job of being first to the puck, controlling the puck in the offensive zone, and being opportunistic in the neutral zone, with many odd mad rushes. Overall, our best team effort of the year pointed out #14 Captain Aaron Swann. Points were scored by all three lines, along with aggressive defense and solid goal tending. The loss is the first for the Ice Dogs, a team many predicted would skate to an undefeated record for the season. Next up will be the Fighting Loons on Thursday, Jan 7th at Breck Anderson Arena.  Puck drops at 9:45PM  Rumors have it that a current Chaos center will be behind the benches coaching for the Rival Loons.

Chaos D1 skates to 6-3 win over Maroons

D1 Team starts Slow, but finishes strong to go to 8-0

After a slow start and skating to a 0-0 tie against the Maroons, Chaos warmed up in the 2nd and 3rd periods to pull ahead of the Maroons and earn their 8th straight victory over the Maroons 6-3. #12 Steve Sattler scored twice while #2 Adam Ettl, #11 Cory Buschmann, #5 Mike StClair, and #19 Bryan Nelson each had a goal and an assist. #77 Mike Korstad added to the offense with 2 Assists from the Blue Liner. StClair's first goal of the season came in dramatic fashion as he was able to speed away from defenders to go one on one with Tim Baird, the talented Maroons goalie. Tim attempted an early poke check, which sent StClair airborne, and when all was done, StClair was in the boards, Tim's stick was in the other boards, and the puck was in the net. The win puts Chaos D1 at 8-0 and 16 points, which is the first team in all of the AHA with such a record and points. Next up are the Knights, the team Chaos last played for the D2 Division title last April. Puck drops at 9:00PM on Saturday at New Hope South Arena.

Chaos Hockey This Week

A Lazy Website Admin who is going on Cruise for the next week is posting the next games, but not their results. Results for D2 can be seen at Here at D2 Results. Results for D1 can be seen here at D1 Results. This week both Chaos teams travel on Sunday and play at the same times. The D2 Team faces a difficult match-up against the Nighthawks, who sit at 5-1-0 and 2nd in the D2 Tier.  If Chaos can goose egg the Brown/Warlick/Errigo line effectively, then the Nighthawks may not score in the entire game. The D1 Team visits the Maroons D1 team led by Ben Gay wearing Goalie Tim Baird and his Son and Right Wing, Andy Baird. The two will be hungry to upset Chaos as Chaos has never lost to a Maroons team.  The Chaos team will be shorthanded this week and will rely on many former Loons skaters who skated with Tim Baird during the Beginner School to now try to score on the stingy and talented netminder. Chaos will attempt to go to 8-0 and remain one of only three teams in all of AHA (111 Teams across 13 Divisions) with an intact record thus far.

Chaos Splits the Weekend, D1 goes to 7-0!

D1 Chaos goes to Box early and often, but wins 5-2 and goes to 7-0.

The Chaos D1 team won a Chaotic and fairly ugly game on Sunday Night at New Hope Ice arena against the Sled Dogs 5-2.  The game was much closer than the score would indicate as the division leading Chaos were treated to a close scare by the division cellar dwelling Sled Dogs. Chaos D1 entered the game with a 6-0 record while the Sled Dogs own an 0-4-1 record.  Chaos was able to go up 3-1 by the end of the first period due to two first period goals by #2 Adam Ettl and another non garbage goal by #26 Jay Westerlund.  Ettl picked the corners while Westerlund found a gaping 5-Hole. Most of the 2nd and 3rd periods were marred by Chaotic penalties highlighted by #19 Bryan Nelson going to the box for 2 minutes for Unsportsmanlike Conduct, then a 10 min Misconduct for persisting in such manner.  Later in the second after killing a too many men penalty, Chaos received another too many men when the player from the Penalty box was on the ice as the same player replacing him. Finally, in the third after all the penalty calls were resolved and Chaos was finally at full strength, Chaos went back to work and put two more goals in by #8 Jeff Schultz (1st of season) and #12 Steve Sattler to make it 5-2. #13 Centerwoman Connie Leigh was Plus/Minus +4 on the game and had no goals against on her line. Chaos goes to 7-0 with the win and will prepare for the Maroons next Sunday Night. Bring the Gas Masks to ward off Ben Gay odors that are sure to emanate from the Maroons goalie.

D2 Team can't muster the Offense and loses close game to the Polar Bears 2-1.

The Chaos D2 Team met the Polar Bears in a critical game and came up just short 2-1.  Despite many offensive chances, Chaos could not convert and pull even or ahead of the Polar Bears and drop to an even 2-2-2 with 6 points. #30 Goalie Chris Guarneri held the score tight throughout the game with some great saves, but in the end, Chaos could not convert and drop a close one to the Polar Bears.  Chaos now embarks on a difficult stretch of games against the NightHawks, IceDogs, Fighting Loons, Wildcats, and PuckHounds to finish up the first half of the season.  The Nighthawks sit in 2nd place.  Puck drops at 6:30PM on Sunday and luxurious West Side Arena.

Chaos gathers 3 of 4 points over the Weekendd

D2 Chaos Battles the Blade Runners to 3-3 Tie in a Battle where only the Goal Post won.

D2 Chaos and the Blade Runners fought a back and forth battle on Saturday night at West Side Arena. The Blade Runners stuck first at 2:02 in the first. #19 Mushett took the assist from #10 Berkerle at 0:53 in the first to tie it up. #23 Butwinick put Chaos up in the second (14:05), but the Blade Runners quickly tied it up and then went ahead at 2:27. It was looking bad for the Chaos boys, when Mushett put his second into the net with 1:42 left in regulation. Neither team could score in OT and both teams walked away with a point each. #5 Donny Donaldson tried to take out the boards behind the Blade Runners net in the 3rd and is questionable for Saturdays game against the Polar Bears, a tough returning D2 team from last season. Chaos now finds itself in a 3 way tie for 4th place with the Polar Bears and the Wildcats, a situation sure to be clarified next weekend. Puck drops at 9:15PM at New Hope North Arena on Saturday Night

Certain Chaos fans have recently sent in comments to the Site Administrator about how friendly the Blade Runners goal posts were in this last game as Chaos seemed to hit an unconfirmed four post shots in their last game against the Runners.  The four Rings have been sent to league officials to investigate whether or not the Runners tampered with placing any magnets in the game pucks. Regardless of the results, the Goal post receives the games 3rd star this week.

D1 Team gets Out Shot, Out Skated, Out Hustled and Out Played, but Walks Out with a 3-2 Win!

A determined and talented Wingmen team showed up Saturday at Breck Anderson Arena and pushed the D1 Chaos Team to the brink of their first loss of the season. Despite being outplayed for much of the game, Chaos mustered up enough to get the job done with a 3-2 win over the Wingmen to go to 6-0 on the season.  The Wingmen scored the only goal of the first period.  Early in the second, #77 Korstad, #88 Webb, and the Hip of #26 Westerlund assisted on #10 Ben Skjolds tap in to tie the game up.  The Wingmen would net another goal on a breakaway to take a 2-1 lead going into the third. Down for the first time in the third period, Chaos found a way to scratch back into the game when #88 Webb tipped home a pass in front of the net from #2 Adam Ettl.  Webb struck again from the blue line on a slapper that went around and through about 4 people before going top right corner with 5:11 left in the third for the first Chaos lead. #42 Dale Melbie stood on his head at times to keep Chaos in this one as he saved 31 of 33 shots for a .940 save pct.  Chaos was outshot 33-19 in the contest.  The win concluded a difficult four game stretch as Chaos beat the Lakers 5-2, Fighting Piranhas 5-3, Diablos 6-4, and Wingmen 3-2.  They combined records of those teams are 15-7 with 4 losses coming at the hands of Chaos.  Up next are the 0-4-1 Sled Dogs at New Hope Arena Sunday night at 6:45PM.  Word has it that it is picture night, so come dressed to impress Chaos skaters. Captains have new Helmet stickers for each player as well.

The Hunt Went Really Well!

The stars, moons and planets have now completed their perfect cycle of alignment and the Devil Hunt is now complete. The angry Chaotic peasants must have brought some large pitchforks as Chaos went 2-0 in hunting down the ugly little red creatures. Chaos D1 started with a 6-4 victory over the Diablos D1 and then Chaos D2 finished the hunt in an offensive barrage winning 11-3 over the Diablos D2. While the hunt went well, Captains realize that all they may have done is awaken and anger the devils, who have vowed to return in full force later in the season when the stars, planets and moons align once again in the new year on the weekend of Feb 27th.

D1 Chaos goes to 5-0 with Win over Diablos D1

The Chaos D1 team improved to 5-0 and remained on top of the D1 West Division with a hard fought victory over a very determined and talented Diablos D1 team. #24 Derek Sutton lead the offense in scoring twice while #26 Jay Westerlund, #2 Adam Ettl, #11 Cory Buschmann, and #19 Bryan Nelson also scored for Chaos. Chaos started the Chaos by finishing the first period strong with two late goals to go up 2-0. The Red Devils won the second period by putting up the lone goal to make it 2-1 Chaos. Only seconds after Pete Sinesio of the Diablos tied it in the third, Chaos silenced the celebrations by answering and going back on top 3-2.  The Diablos would tie matters up two more times only to be answered quickly by Chaos goals. Finally, late in the 3rd, Chaos mounted a couple quick goals to go up 6-4, where the score would stand for good.  With the win, Chaos moves to 5-0.  A loss by the Wingmen leaves Chaos with the only unblemished record, but a difficult matchup loom for Chaos D1 when they host the Wingmen on Dec 5th at Breck Anderson Arena in their next game.  Puck drops at 9:30PM.

D2 Team Opens the Offensive Gates with a 11-3 Win over Diablos D2.

More to come on the D2 game shortly, but word has it the Chaos offense was unhinged as they went on to score 11 goals against the Diablos for a combined 25 points in the game.  #81 Adam Coolong went for 5 points (Hat Trick, 2 Assists), #8 Matt Swanson had 2 Goals, #88 Josh Popp had a goal and 2 Assists, #22 Doug Winjum in his first appearance this year had a goal and an Assist as did #23 Bob Butwinick, #29 Brad Krusemark, and #19 Andrew Mushett.  Also getting his first of the year was #13 Wayne Kinneman.  More to come in the official Captains game recap to be posted shortly.

The DEVIL HUNT is on!

The moon, stars, and planets have converged on the AHA this week to give us the rare occurrence more commonly known as the "Devil Hunt". This is where the Chaos franchise gets to chase down ugly red devil looking creatures called Diablos and attempt to squash them.  In maybe a first to the AHA, multi level tiered teams face each other in the same week when the Diablos D1 squad hosts Chaos D1 on Saturday and the Diablos D2 squad hosts Chaos D2 on Sunday.  Chaos D1 begins the hunt on Saturday at Biff Adam Arena in an attempt to avenge two disheartening defeats over the last couple months.  The first came at the Summer Championship game against a Diablo led Termites squad and the second came during the recent Level 4 AHA Fall Tournament, both which saw the Diablos skate off victoriously.  Chaos D2 will complete the Hunt on Sunday at New Hope Arena facing a fairly new and inexperienced team, however, Captains were quoted as saying "A Diablo is a Diablo and these Devils must be handled accordingly.  Nobody is going to give us Hell"  Bring your crosses, spears, and pitchforks to cheer on the Chaos franchise and lets hope for a good hunt.

Chaos Splits the Weekend, Chaos D1 Alone on Top!

D1 Chaos goes to 4-0 with Win over Previously Undefeated Fighting Pirahnas

The Chaos D1 team sent a message to the rest of D1 by holding on to win an important early season matchup in a game that featured two undefeated teams at the top of the D1 West Division. The D1 Fighting Piranhas are the returning D1 West Champions and have talent loaded throughout their lineup as they lost only 1 skater from last years squad.  With the 5-3 win, Chaos D1 moves into 1st place alone on Top of the D1 West Division with 8 points and 4 wins in as many games.  Chaos got on the board first when #2 Adam Ettl beat Osum's glove assisted by #13 Connie Leigh.  The Piranha answered 90 seconds later to tie up the score.  #16 Rob Whiteford scored his second of the season to put Chaos up 2-1 late in the first with assists going to #15 Big Keebler and Ettl.  #11 Cory Buschmann put Chaos up by two when he scored his first of two goals on the night on a sniper shot beating Osum again glove side with assists going to #5 Mike StClair and #19 Bryan B-Ro Nelson to finish up the first.  The large toothed fish got their second goal to make it 3-2 when Chaos Defenseman Keebler batted a puck in his own net while trying to clear, but only 11 seconds later, Chaos quickly answered again with Cory's second goal by going top shelf on his own rebound assisted again by StClair.  Chaos extended the lead in the third period to 5-2 when Ettl netted his second goal on the night assisted by Whiteford.  A 5-3 man advantage saw the Piranha score a PP goal to narrow the Chaos lead to 5-3.  Chaos marched to the bench late in the third to make things interesting.  #88 Webb went to the box for tripping, then Chaos got a Bench minor for too many men to give the Piranha a 5-3 man advantage again with just over a minute remaining in the game.  The Piranha then pulled Osum to make it a 6-3 man advantage in which Chaos was able to kill off and claim the 5-3 victory over the talented Piranha.  Chaos faces a tough Diablos squad this Saturday at 9:30PM at Biff Adams Arena.  Starting center #13 Connie Leigh may be a late show as she debuts her kickboxing career at Neisen's Bar and Grill in Savage before the game with the bell ringing at 8:00PM.

D2 Team drops close game to Ice Sages.

The Chaos D2 team dropped a hard fought game to the Ice Sages on Saturday at St Louis Park.  The 1-1 Ice Sages, a team from last Winter's Beginner School scored twice in the first period to go up 2-0.  That score would remain for the rest of the match-up.  The Sages limited Chaos to 11 shots on goal while putting 24 on net.  #30 Chris Guarneri stood tall in net saving 22 of 24 shots for a .917% save pct during the game.  Ice Sage Goalie #2 Bauer records his first career shutout as they move to 2-1 and Chaos moves to 1-1-1.  Chaos next faces the 0-3 Diablos team at New Hope Arena on Sunday night at 6:15PM.  Both Chaos D1 and Chaos D2 face the Diablos D1 and Diablos D2 teams this weekend as the Chaos franchise goes on a Devil hunt.

Chaos Teams go 2-0 over the Weekend and Remain Undefeated!

D1 Chaos goes to 3-0 with Win over Lakers 5-2

The D1 Chaos team hustled and slowly wore down a talented Lakers team on Sunday night at West Side Arena to claim a 5-2 victory over a returning D1 Playoff team. The night started off in a festive mood as all were treated to Nelson's pregame song of "Come Sail Away".  The festive mood paid off as #26 Jay Westerlund top shelfed a garbage goal in what would be the first of three goals over the first two periods.  The second goal, another garbage goal, put in by Westerlund put Chaos up 2-0 before the Lakers got on the board late in the first to make it 2-1.  The Lakers scored early in the second to tie up matters only to see Westerlund get the trick later in the second to put Chaos up 3-2.  #13 Connie Leigh found herself in the right position to hammer home a goal from close quarters and Defenseman #88 Matt Webb made it 5-2 with a top shelf laser of a Slapper from near the blue line.  #92 Chase Hansson from Cweden assisted on two goals as did #11 Cory Buschmann and #24 Derek Sutton. Other assists went to #2 Adam Ettl and #19 Bryan Nelson.  #42 Dale Melbie extended his league leading GAA to 1.33 and save pct to .934% in saving 25 of 27 shots to secure the win.  Chaos and Fighting Piranhas, who both are atop the D1 West Division standings with identical records of 3-0, will meet next Sunday night in a battle of the division leaders at 7:55PM at St Louis Park East Arena.  The winner will secure the top spot alone in the D1 West Division.  Come out early to secure your seat and root on Chaos as they attempt to go 4-0!

D2 Notches 1st Win of Young Season

D2 Chaos went up against another playoff team from last season, the D2 Maroons, an always dangerous team. #5 Donaldson (assisted by #87 Kumasaka) scored at 14:19 in the first. #77 Sholl added a goal early in the second for the go-ahead score. Sholl was assisted on a sweet technical play by #23 Bob Butwinick which saw him drag the puck between the defenders legs, go around and put a shot on net which rebounded to a waiting Tom Sholl. The Maroons then answered with their only goal at 1:18 in the first. When the Maroons pulled their goalie late in the 3rd, Donaldson (obviously sensing what was to come), pulled off his wrist brace saying he could hit the side of a barn with it on and proceeded to backhand in the empty netter for the final goal. Next week Chaos hosts the 1-1 Ice Sages, a new D2 team from last seasons beginner program.

Baby StClair Tells Daddy to get Back on the Ice

Mike StClair debuted in his first game back after suffering a broken ankle while giving birth to his new son Levi Nathan "Giovanni" StClair.  After 8-9 weeks of hobbling around, Levi informed Mike to get back out on the ice and contribute something to the Chaos D1 team.  Mike StClair did just that over the weekend in helping the D1 Chaos team remain undefeated by playing Wing and helping defeat the Nighthawks 2-1.  Mike will return to his starting Center spot and will continue his comeback in a game against the Lakers this weekend to try to extend the Chaos record to 3-0.  The entire Chaos squad would like to thank Levi Nathan "Giovanni Pumpkin" StClair in getting Mike back on the ice.

Chaos D1 Edges out Nighthawks in a close one!

Despite a 27-17 shot advantage, Chaos narrowly squeaked out a win 2-1 against the Nighthawks led by Goalie Jen Colling.  Jen missed the Nighthawks first game against the Fighting Ice Fish, who put up 7 in 30 shots against a sub goalie, but Jen was in full force on Sunday night against the Chaos were she only allowed a meager 2 goals against 27 shots on net.  Chaos Goalie Dale Melbie was also up to the task stopping 16 of 17 shots and now has only allowed 2 goals in two games while saving 34 of 36 for a .941 save percentage and two wins.  Chaos got on the board in the first with an unassisted goal by #92 Chase Hansson, who hails from Cweden.  Less than 3 minutes later, #12 Steve "Smiling" Sattler scored his first of what will be many goals this year assisted by #26 Jay Westerlund and #24 Derek Sutton.  The Nighthawks scored one in the 2nd in what would be the last score of the game.  Despite only 1 official penalty late in the game against the Nighthawks, there were plenty committed as the Officials took a back seat in this one as the game became physical and got a little out of hand at times.  Chaos goes to 2-0 and next plays the Lakers on Sunday, Nov 8th at luxurious West Side Arena with a start time of 6:30PM.

D2 Chaos Battles the Horde to a 2 All Tie!

The defending D2 champs waged a defensive struggle against the upstart Horde (is that with a silent H?) on Sunday night at Richfield Ice Arena. #23 Bob Butwinick got the Chaos scoring kicked off with an unassisted 1st period goal at 2:18 in the first, which was quickly answered by the Horde. Chaos newcomer #77 Tom Sholl scored on an assist from #88 Josh Popp and #8 Matt Swanson to put Chaos ahead, but again the Horde responded near the end of the 2nd. That wrapped up the scoring and the two teams played a defensive game for the next 25 min. Up next for D2 Chaos will be the D2 Maroons, a returning playoff team from last season. Chaos looks forward to a rematch with the Horde (again, is that a silent H?) on January 31st.

D2 Champs Defeat D1 Champs!

Chaos D1 squad claimed a victory against the D1 Tier champ Spiders on Saturday night 4-1.  Chaos outshot the Spiders 41-17 and got goals from #16 Rob Whiteford, #88 Matt Webb, #26 Jay Westerlund, and #11 Cory Buschmann.  After a scoreless and tight first period, the Chaos wingers applied a high pressure forecheck that the Spiders couldn't match.  After scoring three in the second period, Chaos and Spiders matched each other in the third with a goal a piece.  The Spiders were a physical and large team that forced Chaos to be the more agile team in the contest.  Next up are the Nighthawks D1 team next Sunday night, at 9:10PM at Highland Arena.  Chaos D2 Team skates on Sunday, the 25th against the Northern Horde.

Full AHA Schedule Released

Check the Calendar page for the Full Season schedule or individual schedules for the Chaos D2 Schedule or the Chaos D1 Schedule in easy to view table formats.  Good luck to both squads this weekend. May Chaos ensue!

Drop the Puck!

Both Chaos D1 and D2 Teams will begin their 2009/2010 season next weekend on Oct 24th and 25th. The D1 Team faces off with last year's D1 Champions, the Spiders on Oct 24th at 7:00PM at Brooklyn Park Activity Center.  AHA matchmakers found it appropriate to put the 08/09 D2 Champions in Chaos up against the 08/09 D1 Champions in the Spiders. The Chaos D1 Team will be unveiling their new colors for the D1 Division as they attempt to hand the Spiders only their 4th loss in the last year. The D2 Chaos squad will meet the Northern Horde on Sunday, Oct 25th at 8:45PM at Richfield Ice Arena.  Chaos and the Northern Horde skated evenly in a preseason scrimmage on Sept 30th.

Divisions and Tiers are Set.  Season Starts Sat, Oct 24th!

D2 TIER
The D2 Tier is now set with 12 Teams.  Teams include returning D2 teams Chaos D2, Maroons D2, Polar Bears, Wildcats, Fighting Loons, Ice Dogs, Puck Hounds and Nighthawks D2.  New teams graduating to D2 Tier include the Northern Horde, Blade Runners, Ice Sages, and Diablos D2.  Teams that have moved up this year from D2 to D1 include Chaos D1, Maroons D1, Knights and Arctic Wolves. The Vipers team from D2 last year has disbanded.  Chaos captains have pegged the Ice Dogs, Puck Hounds, Wildcats, and Northern Horde as critical matchups this year.  All the teams in this tier have a shot this year as the parity in D2 this year is excellent.  Cudos go to the AHA for a job well done in that department.
D1 TIER
The D1 Tier is now set with 22 Teams and two Divisions, EAST and WEST, with 11 teams in each.  The AHA Random Generator 3000 has determined the teams in each division.  The difficult WEST division includes Chaos D1, Diablos D1, Nighthawks D1, Spiders D1, Maroons D1, Wingmen, Fighting Ice Fish, Knights, Sled Dogs D1, Fighting Piranha and Lakers D1.  Captains have pegged the Piranha, Wingmen, Nighthawks, Spiders, and Diablos as critical matchups this year.  The EAST division includes the Yellow Jackets, Stars, Buccaneers, Muskies, Fighting Saints, Wolf Pack, Royals, Ice Gators, Arctic Wolves, Lumberjacks and Gold Rush.  Captains are initially looking at the Fighting Saints, Ice Gators, Yellow Jackets and Lumbejacks as potential playoff teams coming out of the East this year.
Schedule is to be released at the earliest around Oct 15th.  First possible games are Saturday, October 24th.  Almost all teams will have their first game on either the 24th, 25th, 26th, or 27th with most being either Saturday, the 24th or Sunday, the 25th. DROP THE PUCK!

Both the Chaos D1 and D2 Teams are finalizing the last roster spots and have several scrimmages and practices scheduled over the next month before the season kicks off starting with the first possible games on Saturday, October 24th.  Members from both squads competed recently in the AHA Fall Tournament and faired well going 1-2 in a difficult and talent loaded Level 4 division.  Chaos lost a close one on Friday night 2-1 to eventual Tourney Champ Nighthawks and split games on Saturday losing to the Diablos 3-0 and beating the D1 Lakers 3-1 in the evening game.  Thanks to new Chaos skaters Josh Popp, Jeff Schultz and Corey Buschmann for helping fill out short benches during the Tournament.

Goalie Casey Johnson played lights out allowing only 2 goals to claim his 10th victory in only 14 games.  #6 Matt Swanson and #18 Kasie Barness also got on the board to seal the victory 5-2 over the Maggots. #17 Barry Weiner was seen on his knees with both arms towards the sky reaping in the satisfaction of victory in a Championship Game.

Chaos Wins Playoff D2 Championship! Great Season!
Chaos prevailed 3-2 over the highly skilled Knights on Sunday afternoon at BIG#1 to capture the D2 Tier Playoff Championship.  The Championship game did not disappoint.  The Knights scored just :25 seconds in as #17 Sommerness took an odd angle shot and found it's way in back of the Chaos goal.  Chaos would answer just :30 seconds later as #2 Adam Ettl took his own rebound and backhanded a shot into the Knights top shelf right corner.  That Score remained for the next 27 minutes until #88 Webb broke through the Knights defense and scored top left corner with 5:28 left in the second.  In the third, Ettl struck again on a beautiful and patient goal waiting for the Knights goalie to go down, then firing on the top half of the net to extend the Chaos lead 3-1.  The talented Knights continued to give it their all and finally converted on one of their many chances when a shot off the Blocker of Beattie shot straight up in the Air and #17 Sommerness was there again to knock it under the glove for his second goal of the game with 5:58 remaining in the third to make it 3-2.  The last 5 minutes of the game was a nail biting blur.  Defensemen Beckerle and Korstad where called for penalties in the last 4 minutes and Chaos took an onslaught from the Knights while killing those penalties and withstanding a pulled goalie in the last minute with the Knights having a 6-4 skater advantage. #58 Beattie saved 13 shots in the third and pulled a rabbit out of his hat on what had to be the Save of the Tournament by diving over to save a rebound shot around 1:30 left in the game.  On a final defensive clearing, the bell finally rung, and hockey gear was thrown into the air littering the ice while a mass player pileup ensued in front of the Chaos goal.
Chaos went 4-0 in the tournament and had a goal differential of +9 while leading the tournament in scoring and goals against.  In 24 games this season, Chaos is 19-3-2 with 40 out of 48 possible points.  Chaos scored 100 times while allowing 34 against.  This is team Chaos first year in D2 after winning the Beginner Championship title last year in the 2007/2008 season.  Chaos went 15-3-2 during the Regular Season and was also awarded with the Regular Season D2 Championship banner.
Congrats to all the playoff teams in this year's AHA tournament, Chaos, MN Wildcats, Maroons and Knights.  All the teams are great organizations.  It was a battle getting into the playoffs and the playoffs did not disappoint.  Special congrats go out to the Knights, a talented and top class team, who won their last 6 regular season games to get into the playoffs and advanced to the D2 Championship Game as the #4 Seed.

Chaos advances to D2 Championship Game by Going 3-0 in Round Robin Play!
Three straight wins over the Knights (4-1), Maroons(5-2), and Wildcats(2-0) has advanced team Chaos to the D2 Tier Championship Game at Bloomington Ice Gardens, Rink #1 at 3:45PM.  Chaos was able to pull off victories over the Knights and the Wildcats, who seemed to have the Chaos number all year.  The #4 Seed Knights have also advanced to the Championship game with victories over the Wildcats and Maroons.  Come early to reserve your seat at BIG #1 to watch the entire AHA Tier Championship Sunday at Bloomington Ice Gardens.

Cats Roar once again, Prevail 2-1 over Chaos!
Chaos and the Cats now enter post season play along with the #3 Seed Maroons and #4 Seed Knights.  Chaos plays the Knights on Thursday Night at St Louis Park at 6:00PM, then the Maroons at BIG at 11:45AM on Saturday followed by a rematch with the Wildcats later on Saturday Night at 7:45PM at Breck Arena.a.
Chaos finishes a great D2 Season with a 15-3-2 record and 32 points out of a possible 40.  A new season starts in the Playoffs as Chaos, Maroons, Wildcats, and Knights will vie for a sport in the Round Robin Playoff series to win a spot to play for the D2 Playoff Tier Champions.

Chaos Clinches Division Title with Win over IceDogs!
Chaos clinched the D2 Division Title with a win over the IceDogs 5-1 on Saturday combined with a Wildcats loss in overtime on Sunday against the Maroons. As regular season D2 Champions, Chaos will enter the playoffs as the #1 seed and will attempt to win the regular season title as well as the D2 Playoff title.
Chaos skated well, passed well, and played well overall against a talented, much improved and physical IceDogs team.  The IceDogs entered the game on a six game winning streak hungry for valuable points to make their case for a playoff spot.  #14 Aaron Swann was welcomed back from an extended third world vacation by scoring early in the first period. #15 Matt Clark extended his scoring streak to 5 games by netting a 2nd Chaos goal in the first period.  #17 Przybilla from #23 Butwinick (returned from 1 game injury) made it 3-0 Chaos after two.  In the third, Chaos points leader #13 Connie Leigh scored to extend her scoring streak to 6 games.  #81 Adam Coolong got on the board as well to make it 5-1 Chaos.  #58 Beattie saved 29.9 shots with .1 shot actually making it in the back of the net on a freak play where IceDogs #15 Mastrian scored his first goal of the season while sitting on the Chaos Goalie.  Later reviews determined there was a 5 second crease violation combined with Goalie interference to steal the shutout from the Chaos netminder.
Chaos has a week off to celebrate as D2 Regular Season Champions before gearing up for their last game of the season and the looming playoffs.  Chaos travels to host the Wildcats in a matchup between the #1 and #2 playoff seeds on March 28th.  Chaos will attempt to avenge a loss back on January 4th to the Wildcats in what was the last loss for team Chaos.

Chaos clinches Regular Season title and #1 Seed.  Wildcats clinch playoff spot and #2 seed.  Puck Hounds pull goalie late in a 4-4 tie game against the Polar Bears to get extra valuable point and end up losing the game 5-4 and are subsequently eliminated from post season play to join the Vipers, Nighthawks, and Polar Bears.  2 Playoff spots remain up for grabs to be divided among 5 teams.  Ice Dogs can clinch with a win over the Wildcats and Puck Hounds.  Knights can clinch with victories over the Vipers and Polar Bears. Those are the only two teams with control of their own destiny. Then it gets messy.  Wolves can clinch with win over Fighting Loons and a loss or tie by either the Knights or Ice Dogs in either of their 2 remaining games. Maroons get in with a Victory over the Puck Hounds and either a loss by the Wolves and at least one loss by both the IceDogs and Knights or if they win and losses by IceDogs/Knights in both their games or if they lose and losses by IceDogs/Knights in both games and a Fighting Loons Loss.  Loons can still get in by winning both their games against the Wolves and Vipers and a combination of losses between Maroons, IceDogs, and Knights.  Playoff Prediction:  #1 Chaos, #2 Wildcats, #3 Knights, #4 Arctic Wolves

Chaos fights to 4-1 Win over Maroons, Booth goes for Trick!
Chaos had to skate hard for a well earned 4-1 victory over the playoff contending Maroons on Saturday at luxurious and opulent St Paul Academy on Saturday night.  #44 Mike Booth became the 4th Chaos skater ever to record a Hat Trick in a game (Webb, Korstad, Westerlund).  Powered by Booth and a goal by #15 Matt Clark, the Chaos offense did their job while the defense and league leading Goalie Beattie held the Maroons to only one goal and 29 shots.  The game was physical as all three Chaos captains visited the box at least once for a combined 18 minutes in Penalties.  The Maroons played very well, however, the loss bumps them into 5th place as they continue to fight for a playoff spot.  The Chaos victory assures them a 1st or 2nd place regular season finish.
Seven teams continue to fight for the 3 remaining D2 tier playoff spots with only 2-3 games remaining.  Chaos plays two of those teams in their final two games as they fight for a regular season title when they travel to play the Ice Dogs on the 14th and then host the Wildcats in the season finale on March 28th.

Chaos Clinches First Playoff Spot with Win over Polar Bears!
Chaos skated to a 8-1 win over the Polar Bears and clinched the first available D2 Playoff Spot with the win.  The victory gives Chaos 28 points which the Arctic Wolves can only tie.  Chaos owns the tie breaker meaning Chaos will be heading to the D2 Playoffs for the 2008-2009 season.  Playoffs run from March 30th to April 5th and consist of a three game round robin followed by a Championship game for the top two teams on Sunday, April 5th at Bloomington Ice Gardens.
Chaos out shot the Polar Bears 44-20 with goals coming from #19 Mushett(2), #9 Smith(2), #77 Korstad, #13 Leigh, #26 Westerlund, and #19 Przybilla.  The two goal game by #9 Brad Smith is the first double scoring game for the young budding defenseman.  Matt Clark has 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) over his last 3 games.  Charlie Beattie and the Chaos defense have allowed 2 goals and 53 shots over the last 3 games.  Chaos now hosts the Maroons on Saturday at the spacious and luxurious St Paul Academy.  The Maroons will be hungry and desperate for points to help make their case for one of the three remaining playoff spots.

Chaos 2-0 over last two including Win over Vipers
Chaos skated to a 7-1 win over the Vipers, a year removed from last year's beginner championship game.  The Vipers played great, however, only 8 skaters on their bench allowed Chaos a quick 4-1 lead after the first as Chaos tuned down the offense in the second half of the game.  Goals came from #15 Matt Clark(2), #77 Korstad, #13 Connie Leigh, #2 Adam Ettl, #88 Matt Webb, and #17 Jason Przybilla.  The two goals by Clark are the first of the season for him.  Chaos played it's usual defense and added some additional pressure on the defensive unit with Co-Captain Korstad implementing a mid game rule that any defensemen giving up an odd man rush would owe a case of beer to the team fund.  Oddly, Korstad ended up being the only defensemen to owe a case of beer when the final buzzer sounded.  Captain Webb made his first appearance in a game after 6 weeks of being on the IR.  #23 Bob Butwinick sustained a lower body injury in the third period.  His status is currently Day to Day.  Chaos travels to Augsberg Arena Monday night to face the large Hairy Polar Bears before gearing up for difficult games against the Maroons, IceDogs, and Wildcats to finish up the season.

Chaos Shuts Out High Scoring Wolves!
Chaos turned the match up between the #1 Chaos and #2 Arctic Wolves into a well played defensive chess game in a battle for top spot in the AHA D2 Tier on Saturday Night at SLP East.  When the dust settled, Chaos walked away with a 2-0 shutout over the talented, evenly tempered, and high scoring Arctic Wolves as well as a small cushion atop the standings in a tier that has become so competitive for the 4 playoff spots.  Both team's defense and goalies played shutout hockey through 2 periods, however going into the third, Chaos delivered on the go ahead goal by #19 Andrew Mushett setup by #13 Leigh and #15 Matt Clark.  The score would remain 1-0 until about 5 minutes to go when the insurance goal came by #34 Rich Huffman.  Rich was promoted to forward for the game and it paid off with his first goal of the season.  #58 Charlie "I BELONG HERE" Beattie played lights out hockey saving 25 of 25 shots to net his third shutout of the season.  It's the first time this season that the League Leading goal scoring Arctic Wolves have been held scoreless.  Both teams played tight defense, however, the relentless Chaos back check by the Chaos centers and wingers proved too much for the high powered offense of the Wolves.  Chaos allowed no breakaways, and quality of shots remained low.  The Wolves play a clean game of hockey as Chaos matched the style of play in a game that only saw 3 penalties.  Many agreed that the game might have been the best Chaos effort so far as #44 Booth was quoted as saying "That is the best game we or I have ever played"
Chaos now travels to familiar confines of Breck arena next Saturday to face the Vipers in a rematch of last years Championship game in the Beginner league.  In other news, #88 Webb was seen skating before the game for the first time since a broken leg 5 weeks ago.  Webb remains 1-2 weeks away from a full return.

Two Games, Two Ties, Two Points!
Chaos has been in a sharing mood lately sharing 1 point with their foes in the last two games as Chaos tied the Knights last Sunday night and the Fighting Loons last night.  Against the Loons, Chaos jumped on the boards early by a slapper by #22 Doug Winjum.  Later reviews show #2 Adam Ettl may be later credited for the goal once the league has a chance to review the game.  Up 1-0, the Loons came storming back on the shoulders of #5 Mike St.Clair and #77 Chase Hanson, the so called St Clair / Hanson Connection.  They scorched Chaos for the next 3 goals until Chaos implemented it's St Clair / Hanson derailment plan. #44 Booth slammed home a rebound from a shot by Ettl to bring the score to 3-2 Loons.  A couple minutes later on a beautiful pass from #13 Connie Leigh, #5 Donnie Donaldson completed the play after some perseverance to tie the score 3-3.  A onslaught late in the game and in overtime proved fruitless as the Chaos goalie Charlie Beattie and Loons goalie Jon Scholten were done looking back.  The game was subjected to a constant annoying bell ringing, which always seemed to precede a Chaos line change.  The league is looking into allegations of game tampering and noise disturbance.
Chaos prepares for a huge interdivision match up against the 2nd Place Artic Wolves on Saturday where Chaos plans to throw everything at them to prove they belong on top of the D2 Division standings.

Chaos Gets on Track Late to Beat Knight Hawks 3-1!
Chaos finally got on Track on Sunday night to crawl back into and then finally ahead to beat the Knight Hawks 3-1 in a game that felt too close for comfort.  A first period Power Play goal by the Knight Hawks beat Chaos Goalie Charlie Beattie as he was screened.  Beattie commented that "When I finally saw it, it was too late, but I did get a piece of it."  Chaos was unable to convert on many chances in the second and the third period started with Chaos still down 1-0.  With nerves high and no bounces going the Chaos way, Chaos Captain Mike Korstad said, "Hey, there is something missing out there, and it's fun, so let's just have some fun out there!"  Apparently, everyone loosened up and the tying goal came a minute into the third as #17 Jason Przybilla slammed home a rebound on a shot from #7 Rich Benson.  The go ahead goal was elusive until #2 Adam Ettl ripped a rising slapshot from the top of the circles from a nice setup from #11 Aaron Swann halfway through the third.  With :25 seconds left in the game and with the Hawks goalie pulled from their goal, Chaos iced the puck and the ensuing face off came deep inside the Chaos zone.  The referee attempted to ice #13 Connie Leigh by telling her "This very well could be the most important face off you have ever taken!"  With nerves of steel, Connie won the face off and setup the empty netter for #26 Jay Westerlund to seal the deal 3-1.  Chaos took advantage of a Maroon and Wildcat loss to widen the gap on those teams and now sit on top of the D2 standings by a full game over 2nd place Arctic Wolves.  Chaos will hold a practice next weekend in lieu of a bye next weekend.  Chaos next takes on the Knights on Feb 8th at Richfield Ice Arena.  The Knights gave Chaos one of their only two losses 4-1 back on Nov 9th and are looking for revenge.

#4 Forward Mark Frommelt

In other news, Wild Cats Forward #4 Mark Frommelt suffered a season ending injury in his first shift in the Wildcats loss to the Puck Hounds on Saturday night.  Initial reports indicate a broken Tibia and Fibula as well as ligament damage which will require surgery.  The accident happened in the same Ice Arena and against the same team in which Chaos Captain Matt Webb also broke his fibula one week ago.

Mark and team Chaos developed a great friendship over the summer as Mark was on the Summer Team Blowfish.  Mark has 3 goals and 2 assists through 11 games this year for the Cats.  His spot will be a difficult spot to fill for the talented Wildcats, who have been bit by the injury bug several times this year so far.  Chaos passes their sympathies to Mark and his family and wish him a quick recovery.

Chaos Survives the Puck Hounds, but lose Captain!
Chaos stormed out of the gate against the talented Puck Hounds on Saturday night at St Louis Park Arena.  Chaos took an early 3-0 lead in the first with goals from #81 Adam Coolong, #77 Mike Korstad, and #22 Doug Winjum.  The goals by Coolong and Winjum are their first of the season.  Coolong stuffed home a wrap around, Korstad scored on a screaming slap shot from center ice, and Winjum found a five hole from the Blue Line on a great Goalie screen by #17 Jason Przybilla.  The Puck Hounds started scratching back by netting a goal in the 2nd and 3rd periods, however, that remained all they could muster as Chaos withstood a late onslaught when the Hounds pulled their goalie.  The night was a physical one, as Adam Ettl was awarded 6 min in PIM for Holding, Roughing and Slashing.  Ref Calls were inconsistent as Mike Korstad should have at least gone off for a roughing call, if not more for multiple altercations.  The inconsistency continued as an apparent goal by #5 Matt Clark from #13 Connie Leigh was waived off for no apparent reason.
The win is a big win for Chaos as they beat a very capable and playoff contenting team, however, the Click to Enlargevictory was marred by an injury to #88 Captain Matt Webb in the 2nd period.  Webb slid into the end boards feet first and had to be helped off the ice by team mates.  In what was initially only described as a lower body injury, later prognosis determined it to be a spiral fracture of the upper fibula.  The broken leg will sideline Webb for 4-6 weeks spanning the next 4-5 games.  Webb plans on building up his weak upper body in order to come back stronger than ever!

Chaos gets Ready for Second half of Season!
With the first half of the AHA D2 Tier Hockey season officially ending, team Chaos looks forward to another strong performance in the second half of the season.  In preparation for the second half of the season, Chaos took on the TCGHA Moose for the second time this season at the Minnesota Mariucci Arena on Saturday, January 10th.  Chaos was trying out some different positional play and the Moose brought out a different team this time around as the Moose got the best of Chaos 5-2.  Chaos then stood tall to the D1 challenge of the D1 Gold Rush at New Hope Ice Arena on Wednesday, January 14th and skated to a 2-2 against the D1 foes.  Thanks to last minute fill in subs Mike Hankes, Nikko, and Doug as they helped Chaos secure the tie on the night.  Chaos plans to put all that extra practice and work towards a victory on Saturday night against the potential playoff contending team Puck Hounds at St Louis Park East Arena at 6:15PM.  After 10 games, Chaos currently sits alone atop the D2 standings holding on to a slim 1 point lead in a tight leader board where only 2 points separates the top 5 teams.
Matt Webb sends in the inspirational Video of the Week to inspire this weeks Play.  Can you say "Inglewood Jack" and giving some folks the "Gourmet Shot"?

Cats Roar with 4-2 Victory to hand Chaos 2nd Loss
A fast, competitive, and fun game ended 4-2 in favor of the resurging and much improved Wildcats team on Sunday night to give Chaos its second loss of the season.  The Wildcats find themselves on a roll tying the Maroons, then beating the Ice Dogs and top ranked Chaos over the last three games.  The Cats got on the board first on a point shot by Pat Knight which found it's way to the back of the net via a screen in front of the net.  The second period was all Chaos as #26 Westerlund took a pass from #9 Smith and went five hole against Wildcats Goalie Tim Baird to tie it up.  Baird was then called on a Delay of Game penalty for removing the net from it's mooring while Connie Leigh #13 was shooting the goal into the net.  Webb argued for an automatic awarded goal, but had to settle for a penalty shot which was converted to make it 2-1 Chaos after 2 periods.  The third saw the Wildcats roar as defenseman Pat Knight got his second by overcoming formidable defensive objects in Korstad, Leigh and G Charlie Beattie on a nice deke in front of the net.  The go ahead goal slipping under the Chaos net minder when Wildcats Center Denny Anderson made it 3-2.  In the last two minutes, Chaos went on the Power Play and pulled their goalie for a 6 to 4 advantage only to see Denny Anderson get his second on a empty netter to make it 4-2.  Cats tactics worked well all night as they dominated net play by parking a thousand guys in front of the Chaos net all night long.  Baird was able to lift the net off it's moorings at well placed opportune times.  A penalty (the second of the night) for delay of game under two minutes remaining should have resulted in another penalty shot per USA rules, however, the refs missed that one, but not many others as Chaos tallied 14 minutes of penalties and Wildcats tallied 24 minutes of penalties and 1 penalty shot.  Chaos remains in first place, however the leader board has become crowded at the top of the D2 standings with Chaos, Maroons, Arctic Wolves, Wildcats, and Puck Hounds vying for playoff spots.
Chaos takes break from AHA play, however remains active.  They visit the confines of the Minnesota Mariucci Arena on Saturday at 2:00 in a rematch of the Big Gay Moose.  They then travel to New Hope Ice Arena next Wednesday, the 14th in a Scrimmage against the D1 Gold Rush.  They complete next week in officially beginning the second half of the season in a rematch against the talented Pucks Hounds on Saturday, Jan 17th at 6:15PM at St Louis Park Arena.

Chaos Slips by Ice Dogs 2-1 in a tight one!
A W is a W and is still worth 2 points was the thought after a tight 2-1 Chaos victory over the #3 place Ice Dogs on a Snowy, Blustery, and otherwise dismal night at distant Harding Ice Arena in St Paul on Saturday night.  In a defensive match-up, the only Chaos scoring came from Jay Westerlund as he was able to sneak past the Ice Dogs defense to score two straight goals in the second period.  Chaos held on, despite some great chances by the Ice Dogs late in the third after #11 J Marone from the Ice Dogs scored on a breakaway attempt.  Charlie Beattie saved 26 of 27 for a .963 save percentage and lowed his league leading Goals Against Avg to a ridiculous 1.20 goals a game.  The one goal for the Ice Dogs is only the 4th goal allowed in the last 6 contests as Chaos finds themselves on a 6 game winning streak and firmly on top of the D2 standings with 16 points and an 8-1 record.
Chaos will go into hibernation for the Holidays as the team gets some R&R with their next game coming up against familiar friends, the Wildcats on Sunday, January 4th at 9:30PM under the Big Dome of the Coliseum.  The Wildcats tied the Maroons over the weekend puts the Wildcats in a tie for the last playoff spot.

Chaos Shuts Out Previously Undefeated Maroons, 6-0!
Chaos and Maroons met for the first time in a matchup between #1 and #2 in the AHA D2 Tier Division Satruday night at SLP East in a battle for the sole top spot in the League.  Chaos managed to shutout the Maroons, who entered the game with a Perfect 6-0 record.  Playing defensively, Chaos allowed zero goals on 17 shots as the Maroons previous low goal tally totaled 5 goals through 6 games.  Playing offensively, Chaos scored 6 as the Maroons previous high goals against tallied 5 goals through 6 games.  Scoring opened up only :57 seconds in as Przybilla #17 scored on a five hole shot against Maroons netminder Eric Ackerman.  A goal :90 seconds later put Chaos up 2-0 on a top shelf goal by Adam Ettl.  Matt Webb got on the board with a well placed top corner slapshot from the Blue line after Ettl won a faceoff in the Maroons attacking zone.  The wheels came off the Maroons in the third as Donaldson, Leigh, and Przybilla (#2 on the night) all scored to secure the 6-0 outcome.  Chaos Goalie Charlie Beattie saved 17 shots while securing his second shutout of the season.  Charlie and the Chaos Defense have now given up only 3 goals in the last 5 contests.  Charlie's best friend on the night, the Chaos post, saved three shots to help secure the shutout.  The game became very physical despite only 5 penalties on the night.  Don Donaldson secured one of the bench minor penalties for threatening J Fogel #9 with the removal of his head, which was heard by the on ice official.  Celebrations ensued after the game at Park Tavern where the Chaos team and a large crowd were treated to a very well sung rendition of Johnny B. Goode by #34 Rich Huffman during Karaoke.
The victory places Chaos securely on top of the D2 Tier Standings.  Chaos continues a difficult stretch of games next week as they face the talented #3 Ice Dogs next Saturday at Harding Ice Arena.

Chaos Tames the Polar Bears 6-1
Team Chaos met a hungry Polar Bear team and provided little to eat upon on Sunday night in the Big Dome of the now familiar New Hope Ice Arena.  A defensively played first period ended 1-0 Chaos on a beautiful pass from Donny Donaldson to Bobby Butwinick for the only goal.  The line of Swann/Butwinick/Donaldson struck again as all got a point on the second goal as Donaldson netted his second goal in as many games.  Donaldson added another assist later on in the night and led all scoring with 3 points to receive his FOURTH consecutive coaches star.  Ettl, Leigh, Mushett and Przybilla (1st AHA Goal) all scored to cap the scoring to 6 goals against the solid Polar Bear Netminder T. Hurdler.  Chaos was able to double up the Bears 43-21 on shots.  Once again, Charlie Beattie proved to be an impenetrable and formidable obstacle saving 20 shots posting a solid .952 save percentage and lowered his Goals Against Average to a stingy 1.43 while earning his third star of the season.  Aaron Swann scores the last star for solid back checking and awesome pressure in the Chaos attacking zones.
The victory moves Chaos into a two way 1st place tie with none other than their next Opponent, the Magnificent Maroons, who have yet to record a blemish on their perfect 6-0 record.  Get your tickets now as a battle for sole leadership in the AHA D2 tier will ensue this Saturday Night at 9:45PM in the St Louis Park East Arena.

Chaos corals the Mighty Moose!
Team Chaos skated to a 10-3 victory over the Moose at Marvelous Minnesota Mariucci Arena Tuesday night!  The facility at the University of Minnesota falls short of only the Excel Energy Center in St Paul in terms of best ice in the state.  Coordinated Offense was the theme of the night as the unholy line of Westerlund/Leigh/Smith went for 9 points while Ettl went for a couple scores and an assist.  Donny Donaldson earned his third straight star by netting his first Chaos goal by slamming home a pass from Leigh.  A second was in the works, but a determined Moose goalie denied Don from getting the double.  Charlie Beattie and the Chaos defense shut the Moose out going into the third until an much maligned Cleary #25 determined that a shutout would not be acceptable by netting 2 goals and an assist in the third period to determine the 10-3 final score.  Many thanks go out to our gracious hosts, the Big Gay Moose.  Team Chaos looks forward to their next meeting on Saturday, January 10th at 2:00PM in a rematch game.  Chaos will rest up a couple days before traveling to play another large hairy animal in the Polar Bears this Sunday at New Hope Ice Arena at 7:30PM.  Word has it that certain Chaos members have a Back to Back game at New Hope Ice Arena that night, one at 7:30PM and one at 10:00PM.

Chaos takes the Bite out of the Snakes, 6-1!
Team Chaos peppered the talented Vipers Sub Goalie Chris Guarneri with 52 shots getting six behind him for a 6-1 victory by Chaos Saturday night in the Big Rink at New Hope Ice Arena.  The Vipers team, a year removed from the Championship game last year, played well getting 32 shots on net.  Korstad, Butwinick, and Webb got on the Board once while Jay Westerlund took offensive control of the game and went for a hat trick and four total points on the night.  The deadly combination of Donny Donaldson to Jay Westerlund struck at least twice to secure the outcome as Don exploded for two assists on the night.  Charlie Beattie continued his strong league play in saving 31 of 32 shots on the night for a .969 save percentage and lowering his GAA to 1.50.  Team Chaos took 0 minutes in penalty for the first time this season despite some physical play in front of the Vipers net.  The team saw the return of Doug Winjum as his return sparked applause and celebration during post game celebrations.  The win temporarily puts Chaos in a three way tie for first pending the results of the #1 Maroons vs #3 IceDogs game played Sunday night.
Team Chaos gets right back on the road as they travel to the confines of the University of Minnesota Mariucci Arena in the first of two TCGHA games against the Minnesota Moose on Tuesday Night at 7:45PM.  Get your tickets soon and arrive early as the Arena only seats 10,000 people and will fill up quickly.

Chaos Silences the Howl of the Wolves 5-1!
Team Chaos, in what might have been one of their better games in Team History, sent a message to the league by defeating the talented wolves on Saturday Night, 5-1 in an impressive and extremely well played game.  Chaos outplayed the Wolves in every period and in every zone from start to finish and came within :37 seconds of notching their second consecutive shutout on solid defense and great back checking.  The early season win against this quality opponent defines Chaos as an opponent to be reckoned within the D2 tier division.  Team Chaos officials were quoted as saying "I couldn't be a more proud Team Official tonight with the effort from my boys.  The defense, offense, passing, and positioning tonight just couldn't be beat!  Give me a second while I wipe my eyes..Sob, sob, sob."
Scoring opened up two minutes in with Jay Westerlund receiving a pass from Korstad and going top right corner.  The second goal of the first saw Peter Kumasaka get his first of two goals on the night by cleaning up some garbage on a rebound shot by Connie Leigh.  Chaos opened up the offense in the second while continuing to play shutout D as Korstad scored on a laser of a slapper while Mushett got on the board for his first goal and Peter Kumasaka took it up ice and scored on a defensive zone pass from Webb.  Physical play was theme of the night as Korstad received two Roughing penalties, one in which he served over four minutes for.  With this critical and important early season game behind them, Chaos visits the Vipers next week where Webb has promised to tear off the Chaos Patch from a certain opposing Goalie should she dawn the Chaos jersey she received from last year's beginner season.

A sellout crowd under the big dome of Warner Coliseum treated spectators to the first ever shutout in team Chaos history in 3-0 fashion against the scrappy Fighting Loons Sunday afternoon.  Goalie Charlie Beattie and Team Chaos improved to 3-1-0 as the Chaos Net minder improved his League Leading Goals Against Average to 1.75 and Save Percentage to .926.  Connie Leigh, once again began the scoring going 5-Hole in the first period.  Bobby Butwinick cleaned up some garbage going top shelf in front of the net in the first and Mike Korstad also went 5-Hole on a wicked wrister (thought he only had a slapper??) in the second to secure the 3-0 victory.  A special thanks goes out to Mike StClair, Fighting Loons and supporters of the Loons for making the "Battle of the Burrito" a great success as the sellout crowd was treated to Chipotle Burritos, pop, and Hostess Treats!  Both teams were able to raise some significant funds that will go toward team activities!  Thanks Loons!

Chaos has only a couple days to relish in their success as a difficult matchup against the talented Arctic Wolves looms this Saturday in a late one at 10:15 at distant New Hope Arena.  Chaos hits the ice tomorrow night in a practice to prepare for the Wolves tomorrow night at Wakota.

Knights rally in 3rd, Hand Chaos first loss!
The winless Knights rallied in the 3rd period to hand Team Chaos their first loss of the season on Sunday Night at the familiar combines of Breck Arena.  After going up 1-0 on Connie Leigh's goal, Chaos could muster no other offense while the Knights took full advantage of some very fortunate bounces.  A freak odd angled goal found it's way behind the red line to make it 2-1 and a penalty shot on Rich Benson attempt to sweep away a puck in the crease with his hand made it 3-1.  The Knights, with momentum in hand, took control and out shot Chaos 33 - 23 for the game and a dominating 21-4 in the third.  Chaos, still trying to master the fine art of short shifts and proper positioning, visit the Fighting Loons on Sunday at 4:15PM at the state fair grounds.  The game has been dubbed the "Battle of the Burrito"  as Chipotle has donated a number of burritos and pop to the two teams in a fundraiser event.  Ask friends and family to support their favorite teams and bring their appetites.  A burrito and a pop will go for $5.00 and will benefit both teams.

Chaos Skate past the Nighthawks, 9-1
A rare Thursday game saw the Chaos take care of business 9-1 against the Nighthawks team.  The Nighthawks, a D2 playoff team just a year ago, graduated almost half their team to D1 this season and appear to be in a rebuilding year.  The Chaos Defense and Goalie Charlie Beattie allowed only 1 goal on 12 shots.  Charlie was later quoted as saying "I had to find things to do back there to keep myself entertained".  The offense rolled with 55 shots on newcomer Kangas and was able to put 9 past the netminder.  Webb(2), Ettl(2), Westerlund, Butwinick, Booth, Smith, and Leigh all got goals to evenly distribute the scoring.  Chaos plays host to the Knights on Sunday Night as they attempt to maintain their unblemished record so far for the season.  The Knights lost 6-3 to the Maroons in last weeks season opener.  Many thanks to Rich Huffman, who came prepared and took some professional team photos after the game.  The Chaos team really appreciates his efforts and realize they can use all the professional help they can get in to look any good in photos.

Chaos Takes Season Opener in D2, 5-2
Chaos walked away with a well deserved 5-2 victory over new the D2 Team, the Puck Hounds Saturday night at Richfield Arena.  Chaos took full advantage of what seemed like a rusty start for the new team by putting three goals behind their new goalie by the end of the first.  The first two goals of the season came by Mike Korstad as he was able to skate right up the middle to net both of them.  Later reviews of the second goal known as the "Phantom Goal" later proved Korstad's second to be true.  A late goal in the first saw fellow defensemen Webb in similar fashion up the middle.  Mike Booth got on the board by slamming home a shot off the post by Webb in the second and Korstad finished the "Trick" by netting home one in the third for a final score of 5-2.  Charlie Beattie, in his first action with the league, received quite the Buzz from fellow D2 teams scouting the game as he saved 21 shots to post a .913 save percentage.  In other action, Connie was seen performing her patented Spin O Rama move to perfection on some Puck Hound Defense and Korstad unleashed a couple nasty slappers, one which appeared to actually frighten the Hound netminder.  Chaos have some time to relish their victory before traveling to Bloomington on November 6th with a meeting with the Nighthawks.

New Team Additions
The roster is finally completed and there are some new faces to Welcome to the team from Last Year's Squad.  Please join me in officially welcoming the following to the Chaos Family!
  • Charlie Beattie: Our new goalie played lights out against the Loons and I'm excited to have him on the team.  Welcome aboard Charlie!
  • Jason Pryzbilla: Jason was a recruit of Adam Ettl and most of you already know Jason from scrimmages and practices.  Jason skated over the summer with Team Blowfish.  Please welcome Jason as a regular to the team as he will add a deadly mix of size, power, and speed for the Chaos squad.
  • Adam Coolong: Adam's been involved in scrimmages, the Summer Blowfish Team and the AHA Fall tournament.  Adam netted a couple in the Loons Pre Season Game.  Adam will bring a host of skills to the team as a sub skater who plans to attend as many games as his schedule will allow.
  • Peter Kumasaka: Peter was recruited out of a Rob Little Skating Clinic when everyone saw this guy could really skate!  Peter joins our team as a Sub and I'm confident we will be a better team with him on the ice!  Thanks for coming aboard Peter and Welcome to the team!
  • In a Last Minute Move, the AHA approved the Addition of Jay Westerlund, who previously evaluated as a D1 skater.  Jay has been to a couple Chaos scrimmages and was involved in the AHA Fall Tournament!  Jay will be a quality addition to the team and figures to infuse skill, speed and goal scoring prowess to our Chaos squad.  Jay is officially a sub.
  • In a sneaky move to keep a skater in the Chaos/Cats Partnership organization, our last roster spot was officially offered to Andy Baird as Captain Matt Webb offered Andy a Spot when he heard he was a free agent released from the Wildcats squad.  Andy skated with Chaos at the U of M Moose Exhibition last year and was second in goal scoring for the Summer Team Blowfish.  Currently living in far away places like Bulgaria and Seattle, Andy figures to get in the mix in only a couple games should his visits back home coordinate with the Chaos Schedule!  Please welcome Andy to the Chaos squad and make sure to gloat about it to Wildcat Goalie Tim Baird and the rest of the Wildcats when you see them.
AHA D2 Tier Team Breakdown
  • Chaos - Word is they will be the team to beat!
  • Wildcats - The cats have some new skaters backed by an awesome goalie.  League suspensions to Brad Nordin and Andy Baird moving out of state hurt.  This team stands firm and tall and figures to be a likely playoff team.
  • Fighting Loons - Loons are back, we need to duplicate our pre-season scrimmage.
  • NightHawks - NightHawks lost a few players to D1, but their goalie returns!  If their Captain Mark Lowman returns, they might be the team to beat!
  • Arctic Wolves - The playoff team from Last Season lost 6 of their best skaters to D1.
  • Knights - The Knights were also scrambling to replace lost souls on the squad, but figure to be very competitive this year.
  • Ice Dogs - Ice Dogs are back with no changes, Jeff Murphy is the Cap and Jason  DeFlorin remains in Net.
  • Maroons - Maroons lose 2-3 skaters, but figure to be in the mix.
  • Polar Bears - The Bears return with minimal changes to their squad.
  • Vipers - In a last minute move, the Vipers are skating D2 this year despite reports they would be D1!  Captain Kyle Anderson was seen scrambling for up to 5-6 players to complete their roster.  Mike Roth, and Julian Killian will not be with the team, but Tim Haugen returns backed by their goalie Sarah Thuriot.
  • Puck Hounds - Led by former Viper skater Kyle Anderson, this team figures to be a wild card as most of their skaters evaluated in the recent AHA evaluations.
